Poca Community Launches GoFundMe to Honor 2021 Grads

The Poca community is raising money to honor Poca High School seniors. The town of Poca and local parents want to celebrate their seniors with graduation banners that will be hung throughout the town. A GoFundMe was created over the last weekend to help raise the funds. The project had generated more than $1,300 as of Monday, April 26.

“These seniors have missed out on experiencing so many normal traditions during their junior and senior years, we would like to do something a little extra for them,” said Tisha Runions, GoFundMe organizer.

“We would like to celebrate our seniors with graduation banners that will be hung from the telephone/utility poles throughout the town of Poca. Mayor Jones and the town of Poca have graciously agreed to purchase the brackets needed for this project . We also a have a photographer, Chelsey Martin, who has agreed to donate her time to take the pictures at no charge, but we will be accepting donations on picture day to compensate her for her time. We only need to raise funds for the banners themselves. Each 2 sided banner will cost $38.50 for a total of $2,348.12 , including taxes.

“The banners can be separated after they are displayed so each senior may keep their own. These seniors have missed out on experiencing so many normal traditions during their junior and senior years, we would like to do something a little extra for them. Donations from community members, businesses and parents would be greatly appreciated.

“Every senior must be adopted or we will not be able to proceed with this project. Any donation will help tremendously,” Runions stated. “Once a Dot Always a Dot.”
