Since the Centennial History is now out of print, the Breeze is reprinting articles from the book as space allows. This week’s selection will be the 198th installment of the Centennial History.

FAMILY HISTORY OF A GRADUATE OF THE CLASS OF 1932

Grandfather: Charles Simon Handley, born August 12, 1856, deceased December 13, 1944. Grandmother: Ellen Woody, born September 6, 1858, deceased May 15, 1930.

Children: Earl Clayton, (deceased), Frank, (deceased), Owen, George, Nyde, Lee, Harry, Henry, Russell, Herman, Harold, Arnold, and Guy. Daughters: Arlean M. married Jess Burachett. Elizabeth Lowe Beckett, divorced, married Fred Schikle.
Father Earl Clayton Handley (1879 to 1952) married Ida B. Walton (1881 to 1964). They were members of Mount Vernon Baptist Church and are buried in Mt. Vernon cemetery. Children: Hazel Cline (1900-1986) married Other Dewey Erwin. Their children are: Robert, Helen, Virginia, Merrell, Howard and Gerald.

Martha Mahala married Harry Herman Hicks (deceased). Their children are: William Denvil (deceased), Paul Douglas (deceased), and Marian Olive.

Opal Morene married Lawrence Tabor (divorced). Their children are: James Jennings, Hilda Pauline, Martha Lou and Jimmy Allen (deceased).

Mary Josephine married Mervin McDaniels. Their children are: Rosa Lea and Robert.

Loyle Morrison (1912-1965) married Clara Long. Their children are: Clara Ruth (deceased), Deloris Jo, Agnes (Jeanie), Ida Morrison, Virginia Kathelene and Donna Lou.

Charles Henry married Anna Mae Farley. They have one child: Gary Richard.

Ruth Ellen married John Quinn Riley. Their children are: Quinelen and Elizabeth B. She married Darrell Torman. Their children are: James Riley and Laura Ellen. Elizabeth B. married Edwin Conner and their child is April Beth.

Ruth Ellen attended the following schools: Valley Bell Elementary, Hurricane High, graduating in the class of 1932, and completed courses at Huntington Business College. She now resides with John Q. Riley at 2303 Route 60, Culloden, West Virginia.

Betty married Garland Gross (deceased), then married M.N. McCormick, and had one child: Judy Karen.

Anna Doris married Willard M. Bennett. Their children are: Sondra, Annette and Toni.
