CHARLES DAVID CHAPMAN
Charles David Chapman, 90, of Fraziers Bottom, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 31, 2021.
He was born November 28, 1930 in Putnam County, a son of the late Everett and Clara Chapman. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Fay Chapman; his siblings, Wesley, Clifford, Carl, Junior, Orville, Thurman, Ray, Margie and Mabel Chapman.
He retired from BASF. He is survived by one daughter, Joyce Higginbotham; two sons, David Keith Chapman (Judy) and Norris Wayne Chapman; one sister, Nancy Adkins (Johnny); one brother, Clifford Chapman (Gusty); six grandchildren, Stephanie, Adam, Tonya, Tara, Heather and April; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Don Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Fraziers Bottom.

GLEN R. ERWIN
Glen R. Erwin, Sr., 79, of Hurricane, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021. He was born December 8, 1941 to the late Edith Romaine and Alva Erwin.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Darrell Erwin, Donald Erwin, and John Ray Erwin; his sister, Allita Erwin Legg; and his grandson, Cody Priestley.
Glen is survived by his four children, Pamela Erwin, William Erwin, Tamera (Steve) Green, and Glen Jr. (Nisa) Erwin; brothers, Gary (Kathy) Erwin, Douglas (Patricia) Erwin; sisters, Bonita (Earl Ray) Dodrill, Juanita (Wayne) Legg and Norita Erwin; grandchildren, Britny Erwin, Joseph Erwin, Jessica Erwin, Brittany Tripp, Fancy Green, and Tiffany Priestly; great grandchildren, Brycen Nester, Logan Mead, Thomas Reed; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
His larger than life personality will be missed.
A graveside service was held Friday, October 29, 2021 at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Hurricane.

JERRY ALLEN GOODWIN
Jerry Allen Goodwin, 61, of Winfield, formerly of Poca, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 at St. Mary’s Medical Center following a short illness.
He was a jack of all trades who could fix anything and was always up for the challenge. He loved the Cincinnati Reds, WVU Mountaineers and the Chicago Bears. Jerry was an avid country music fan. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren and he loved his family dearly.
Born August 10, 1960, he was the son of the late Darrell and Martha Goodwin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Evan Goodwin; nephew, Eric Parsons and brother in law, Gary Parsons.
Survivors include his children, Jerry (Darlena) Goodwin II of Leon, Marie (Jason) Osborne of Poca, Tony (Sheena) Goodwin of Apple Grove, Matt Goodwin (Michelle Clay) of Nitro and Darrell Goodwin of Poca; sister, Roberta Valentine; brother, Darrell Lee (Pat) Goodwin; sister, Cheryl (Larry) Henson; sister, Paulette (Paul) Patton; twin sister, Jeanne Parsons; brother, Scott Goodwin and brother, Beryl Goodwin, all of Poca; grandchildren, Justin (Emily), Kailey, Dalton, Hunter, Leila, Stephanie, Kaitlyn, William, Ashlee, Savannah, Noah, Nathan, Owen, Fahren, Elayna and Paige; great grandchildren, Jaxson and Chandler.
Funeral service was Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Raynes Funeral Home, Eleanor, with Rev. Randy Parsons officiating.

DORSEL HODGES
Dorsel Hodges passed away peacefully at his home on October 28, 2021 with his wife Jane, son J.F. Hodges, and his dog Suchi by his side.
He was born in Putnam County on January 25th, 1941, the youngest son of the late Stephen Sr. and Marguerite Hodges. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Jerrel Hodges and a sister Wilma Leslie.
In addition to his wife and son, he is also survived by his oldest brother Stephen Hodges Jr. and baby sister Wanda Gibson, along with an extensive number of amazing nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
He graduated from Hurricane High School and set out into the world of real estate construction and development as a young man. In his early years he worked with the Leslie side of the family, both locally and in the western US, honing his skills as an equipment operator, homebuilder, and business man. He returned home from the west in 1959 to start Hodges Homebuilders with his brother Stephen “Jr”. Following two successful decades of local home building and community development, Dorsel started his own company, Exclusive Home Designs, Ltd. With his wife Jane by his side. Exclusive Home Designs evolved over 30 years to create some of the most prestigious communities and residences in the Kanawha and Teays Valley areas.
Dorsel loved his family and friends and was an avid outdoors man who was fortunate enough to travel the world. He and Jane were married in Hawaii and enjoyed many trips to Europe, Mexico, Canada, South America and beyond. He loved camping, hunting and fishing with his son and nephews, and he loved spending time with children and animals at every opportunity. He was an easy light to find in any room as the children were always flocking to his side. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner at Beni Kedem Temple, and spent a lifetime giving back to their extraordinary hospital along with St. Jude and other worthy causes for children.
His heart and mind were as big and beautiful as they come and he will be missed by all.
Funeral service for Dorsel was Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor Bobby Morris officiating. Burial was in Lower Hodges Cemetery, Hurricane.

MICHAEL D. KIDD
Michael D. Kidd, 48, of Hurricane, passed away on October 26, 2021 at home.
He was a son of Ronald G. Kidd and the late Donna M. Dudley Kidd.
Mikey was a 1992 graduate of Hurricane High School, was an equipment operator at the Stamping Plant, So. Charleston WV and a DIE HARD Dallas Cowboys fan!
Mikey is survived by his loving children, Whitney R. Kidd and her boyfriend Jacob Walker, DJ Harmon, and Haley Harmon and her sons, Bentley Harmon and Valac Hale, former wife and the mother of his children, Stephanie Kidd, his father, Ronald Gene Kidd, his sister, Missy Kidd, his brother, Jason Kidd (Jamie Wilson) and their children, Lizabeth, William and Linzie, his brother, Rob Kidd and his son, Zach Sowards, and his other brother, Gerald David Dudley II, (Beth) and their children, Elaina, Damien and Carina.
Memorial service for Mikey was Monday, November 1, 2021 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane.

PAUL MATHENY
Paul Wesley Matheny, 41, of Leon, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of IUOE Local 132. Paul was an avid outdoorsman who loved to squirrel hunt and trout fish.
Survivors include his father Herbert Wesley Matheny of Leon and Cindy Beeman of Gallipolis; daughter, Breanne Matheny; brothers, Josh (Stacy) Matheny and Seth (Jessica) Matheny both of Amanda OH.
Funeral service was Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021 at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo. Burial was in Smith Church Cemetery, Leon.

SHERILL LYNN MORRIS
Sherill Lynn Anderson Morris left this world to join her Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 30th, at CAMC Hospital after complications from an illness.
She is proceeded in death by her father Roger Anderson and grandparents Dewey and Ethel Henderson. She is survived by her husband Rev. Jim Morris (Hurricane), daughters Sherill Ann (Brian) Hoffman of New Haven and Andrea (Doug) Peters of Clarksburg, granddaughter Gracie Hoffman, mother Janet Anderson (Hurricane), brother Joe (Ann) Anderson of Dayton Ohio, brother Gene (Debbie) Anderson of Proctorville, OHIO. And several nieces and nephews.
Sherill was a teacher at Poca Middle School and truly loved teaching. It was her passion. She was a long time piano player for West Alban Church of God where her husband is the pastor. She loved animals, gardening, and being outside. Her memory shall live on through her family and the countless students that she came in contact with.
Funeral service was Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane with Rev. Dr. Melissa Pratt officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

BRADFORD ALLEN PISTORE
Bradford Allen Pistore, 61, of Eleanor, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at his home following a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Edward Pistore.
He is survived by his loving mother, Betty L. Pistore; sisters, Tammy Pistore and Celesta Pistore; brother, Brandon Pistore. Brad is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was Friday, October 29th, 2021 at Beech Grove Cemetery, Eleanor, with Pastor David Panaro Jr. and Pastor Greg Johnson officiating.

JEANETTE LEE WARNER
Jeanette Lee Warner, 67, of Leon, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Violet Garrison.
Jeanette is survived by her husband, Darrell “Jim” Warner I; children, son, Darrell (Bonnie)Warner II, daughters, Sherry (Lee) Higginbotham and Angie Hughes; grandchildren, Hannah Knell-Warner, Jordan Higginbotham, Brooklyn Hughes, Madison Hughes, and Jacob Warner. Jeanette also leaves behind one brother, Donald (Bobbie)Garrison and three sisters, Gloria Combs, Terri (Mike) Frye, Barbara Garrison, and many other family and friends.
Jeanette was a caregiver for many years, and she loved taking care of others.
A tribute to the life of Jeanette was Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Haven of Rest Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Paul Bailey officiating. Entombment was in the memory gardens.

ALVIN RAY WHITTINGTON
Alvin Ray Whittington, 80, of Buffalo, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was a graduate of Buffalo High School and an U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. He worked for many years in the construction industry and was member of Cross Creek Community Church. Ray loved baseball and played for several years in the army and in a local independent league. He went on to coach baseball for several years, starting with little league and later as the head coach for Buffalo High School.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Carol and Ida Whittington.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, “Margie” Whittington; daughter, Angela Whittington of Florida; sons, Terry (Terri) Whittington of Buffalo and Larry (Shelly) Whittington of Buffalo; brothers, Larry Joe (Jane) Whittington and Richard (Susie) Whittington; grandchildren, Leah Henson, Beau (Elizabeth) Whittington, Myah (Jason) Winter, Hunter Whittington and Noah Whittington; nephews, Josheph Whittington, James Whittington, Stephen Whittington and their families.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Cross Creek Community Church with Pastor Joe Scarberry officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Everyone is welcome to attend a dinner following the service.

RENEE WILES-JOHNSON
Renee Wiles-Johnson, 71, of Hurricane, went home to be with The Lord on Monday, October 25, 2021.
Daughter of the late Harry and Myrtle Gibson of Hamlin, she is preceded in death by her sister Debbie Ballard and special aunt Marietta. Renee is survived by her loving husband Michael; son Christopher and his wife Beth Ann; daughter Mandy and her husband Zack; stepson Michael (Portland, OR); stepson Eric (Hamlin, WV); brothers Rodney and Mike; special uncle John; grandchildren: Garett, Taylor, Grant, and Mason.
Renee was an interior designer and decorator for many years and owner of Plantation Corner. She was a loving wife, mother, and Nana and was a faithful servant of The Lord.
Services were held at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, on Thursday October 28, 2021. Burial was in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Huntington.
