Gov. Jim Justice and his pet English Bulldog, Babydog visited Hurricane High School on Wednesday, November 17, with a $50,000 check in hand.
The Governor told the students and staff assembled in the bleachers at Redskin Stadium that Hurricane High was the $50,000 prize winner because the school recorded the highest Covid vaccination rate among the 77 high schools that registered to participate in the West Virginia Department of Education’s I Got Vaxxed Competition.
The Governor and Babydog visited Hurricane High School twice previously this school year to present full-ride college scholarships to Livvi Miller and Connor Reece, winners of the “Do it for Babydog” vaccination sweepstakes.
Justice said that the school plans to use its $50,000 winnings to make its 2022 Prom the best prom ever and to hold an event at the school for HHS families to enjoy.
