CHARLES CUNNINGHAM
Charles Neal Cunningham, 86, of Liberty, passed away on January 7, 2022 at home.
He was born August 31, 1935 in Crichton, WV to the late Jewel G. Cunningham and Lula Presley Cunningham.
Charles was a 56 year resident of Putnam County and served in the United States Marine Corps. After retiring from Union Carbide 1992 as an insulator supervisor, he settled on his farm and enjoyed many happy years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Andrew Cunningham.
Charles is survived by his wife of 63 year, Phyllis; children, Patti (George) of Cross Lanes, Randall (Laurie) of Liberty, David Cunningham (Donna) of Liberty, and Lori Ann Bailey (Dan) of Winfield; grandchildren, Destini Trent, George Ross Jr., Donald Ross, Brenna Ross, Betsy Stewart, Morgan Hudson, Fallon Goff, Adrian McNabb, Kayla and Kara Cunningham, Kennedi and Benjamin Myers, Joshua, Seth, Laura and Eli Bailey; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by many.
On December 27, 2021 he accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ, as his Lord and Savior.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, at Emma Chapel, Liberty with Rev. Mike Miller officiating.
Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at Emma Chapel, Liberty.
The family request that everyone attending to wear a mask.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

DARRELL HODGES
Darrell Lynn Hodges, 86, of Hurricane, passed away on January 2, 2022 at CAMC Teays Valley Hospital.
He was born a son to the late Ercel and Wilma Erwin Hodges. In addition to the parents he was preceded in death by his wives, Sandra Dowdy and Ethel Wall, his siblings, Betty Fannin, Larry Hodges, Marilyn Crow, and Karen Sue Vititoe.
He is survived by his loving children, Kim (Mark) Dunlap of Hurricane, Mark (Stacey) Hodges of Sherrills Ford, NC and Amy (Jason Caplinger) Hodges of Hurricane, his grandchildren, Josh (Ploy) Dunlap, Cody Dunlap, and Maelee Caplinger all of Hurricane WV.
Graveside service for Darrell was Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Hurricane.

TERESA MCCORMICK
Teresa Leigh McCormick, 63, of Eleanor, passed away January 3, 2022, at home.
Teresa is a loving mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her daughter Christina Fisher; parents Ernest Ray and Reba Higginbotham and brother Glenn Higginbotham.
She is survived by her two sons, Timothy Daniel Fisher and his wife Rosa and Stephen Ray Fisher and his wife Abbie; sister Cindy Johnson and five grandchildren Brody, Katie, Allie, Lucie, and Macy.
A tribute to the life of Mrs. Teresa McCormick will be 1:00 PM Friday January 14, 2022, at Haven of Rest Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will follow in the memory gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday.

RONALD MYERS
Ronald Gene Myers, 81, of Hurricane, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, WV.
He was born on August 4, 1940 in Charleston, a son of the late George and Thelma McCoy Myers.
Ronald was a US Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam and a retired chemical operator from Clearon.
He leaves behind a host of friends and extended family.
He is survived by his son, Gregory Myers of Hurricane, and brother, Mac Myers (Diane) of Rockhill, SC.
Funeral service was Monday, January 10, 2022 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane.

MARY NEWMAN
Mary Lenore Newman, 81, of Eleanor, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2022.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Paul S. and Barbara A. Jackson.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John T. (Tom) Newman; her daughter Mary Michele (Steve) Bays; her son Paul Thomas (Audrey) Newman; her grandchildren Paul Newman, Chris Newman, John Bays and Kierra (Corey) Moore; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved uncle, James R. Jackson and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Mary, a Charleston Catholic High School and Capital City Commercial College graduate and former Union Carbide employee, was a devoted wife and mother. She worked tirelessly as a homeroom mother and helped raise money for various school groups by working concession stands at Eleanor horse shows and other endeavors, as well as raising money for charitable causes, such as the American Cancer Society. A devout Catholic, Mary was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bancroft where she taught Sunday school and decorated the church with her beautiful home-grown flower arrangements. She was known by many as the “cake lady” for her artistic, delicious cakes that she baked and decorated through the years. Mary loved animals, trips to the beach and painting, but mostly, she loved her family.
Funeral services were held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bancroft on Thursday, January 6, with the funeral mass celebrated by Rev. Charles Anemelu. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

VIRGINIA MAE TILLIS
Virginia Mae Tillis, 77, of Poca, passed away January 4, 2022.
Mrs. Tillis is a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents Wallace and Nancy Tribble and her husband Charles Tillis.
She is survived by her three sons, Charles, William, and Steve Tillis; brother Garry Tribble; sister Betty Dodd; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
At this time there will be no services.

LARRY F. WHITED
Larry F. Whited, 71, of Poca, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 2, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Upon retirement Larry was very engaged in his community, was an enthusiast of classic cars, fishing, vacationing at the beach, and spending time with his family and friends. He was very active, always lending his skills and a helping hand to his neighbors, friends, and family.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Jesse F. Whited and Emogene Brubaker Whited, and his sister Nancy Agee.
He is survived by his sister Paula Zickafoose of Pt. Pleasant, daughter Septimbor Lim and husband Jonathan, and granddaughters Eva Lim and Beatrice Lim, and his special friend “Lucy”.
A Celebration of Life service was held Friday, January 7, 2022, at Cooke Funeral Home, Nitro, with Rev. Nancy White officiating. Burial was in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
