Putnam Wellness Coalition Hosts Monthly Meet-Ups

The Putnam Wellness Coalition hosted a youth meet-up at Valley Park in Hurricane on Monday, February 28. Local teens enjoyed an evening of disc golf and other fun activities with Wellness Coalition project coordinator Evan Young.

The Putnam Wellness Coalition fights substance abuse by promoting healthy activities, such as exercise, music, games, and hobbies.
“The most important sector we serve is the youth,” said Young.

These youth nights and other meet-ups are open to middle and high school age teens. Young said that the Wellness Coalition plans to host monthly events at Valley Park. By holding these events on Monday evenings, teens can attend the meet-ups while parents participate in free Zumba classes that Wellness also hosts.

Young says that the Wellness Coalition’s Youth Advisory Council is planning other events this spring including after school pop-up events. On March 14 through 16, a March Madness basketball promotion will be held at various locations around the county.

The Wellness Coalition will also be holding a youth leadership summit in June 21st through 23rd at Valley Park. The organization works with SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) clubs in the area and additional local organizations.
