CORENE BAILES
Corene Bailes, 80, of Grimms Landing, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a Christian and a member of Oma Chapel Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Born January 24, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Londus Grady and Olive Higginbotham Grady. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Donald Gene Bailes, whom she married on January 11, 1957; a son, Lee “Baldy” Bailes; and a brother, Beldon Grady.
Survivors include her children, Donald (Chris) Bailes of Pt. Pleasant, Raymond (Janet) Bailes of Kenova, Wilma Holland of Grimms Landing, Kimberly (Bruce) Rainey of Gallipolis Ferry, Lonnie (Samantha) Bailes of Pt. Pleasant, Donnie Bailes of Grimms Landing, Bryan (Amanda) Bailes of Leon, and Tiffany (Brandon) Jordan of Pt. Pleasant; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Albert Grady of Leon; sisters, Lova Melvina Tucker of Grimms Landing, and Karen Martin of Buffalo; as well as extended family and many friends.
Funeral service was Friday, March 11, 2022 at Raynes Funeral Home Eleanor with Pastor Carl Bailes officiating. Burial was in Craig Cemetery, Grimms Landing.

JUANITA BURDETTE
Juanita Burdette, 97, of Leon passed away Sunday March 6, 2022 at Hubbard Hospice House West at Thomas Memorial Hospital following a short illness. She had a long career in education as a teacher. She started out teaching in the Rocky one room school house and then taught at Leon Elementary until 1967. Following her time at Leon, she was a substitute teacher in the Cabell County school system and eventually finished her career at Ona Elementary. Juanita was a longtime member of the Leon Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday School class, played the piano/organ and was a longtime trustee of the Leon Cemetery. She was a member of the Buffalo Chapter No. 150, Order of the Eastern Star.
Born October 27, 1924 in Leon she was the daughter of the late Charles King and Rebecca Stone King. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arthur Burdette Sr.; half sisters, Ruby Pickens, Ruth Stone; half-brother, Charles H King; sisters, Ardydean King, Kathleen Hill and brother, Herbert King.
Survivors include her son, Charles “Laddie” Burdette and his wife Karen of Buffalo; grandchildren, Garrett Burdette and his wife Brittany of Buffalo, Ali Burdette of Buffalo and great-grandson Nash Burdette.
A tribute honoring her life was held Thursday March 10, 2022 at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo. Burial was in Leon Cemetery, Leon, with Pastor Fred Sparks officiating.

TRUMAN DAVIS
Truman Clemon Davis, 73, of Culloden, went to his Eternal Home on February 28, 2022 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston WV.
He was a son of the late Charles and Elpha Meadows Davis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his 4 brothers.
Truman was the former Pastor at Valley View Freewill Baptist Church, Hurricane, and retired from the City of Hurricane, Maintenance Division.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years, Ruby J. Foster Davis; daughter and son in-law: Elissa and John Platt of Culloden; sons: Richard A. Davis of Culloden and Ronnie R. Davis of St. Albans; his sister: Wanda Brown of Hurricane; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Graveside services was Friday, March 4, 2022 at Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane, with Pastor Alan Frye officiating.

ANNA LEE HATCHER
Anna Lee Hatcher, 77, of Hurricane, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 3, 2022 after a long illness. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Culloden. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Hatcher parents James and Alma Fredericks and granddaughter Sarah Hatcher.
She is survived by 4 sons, Donald, Jr. (Sigrid) Hatcher, Robert (Tina) Hatcher, Bill Hatcher and Johnathan Hatcher; 6 grandchildren, Daniel (Jessie) Hatcher, Brian (Miranda) Hatcher, Emily (Mike) Altice, Wendy Hatcher, Hannah (Zach) Brant and Shelby Hatcher and 9 Great Grandchildren
Private Funeral services were held at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. James Lutz officiating. Burial was in Hatcher Cemetery

AMBER NICOL HAYES
Amber Nicol Hayes, 35, of Liberty, passed away February 26, 2022.
Amber is an employee of Smith Concrete and loved to fish.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Ronald Harper.
She is survived by her son Caleb Hayes; mother Sandra Harper; father William Harrison; grandparents Betty and Berto Harrison and brothers William Alton Wayne Harrison and Ronald Brandon Ostrihon.
At her request there will be no services.

GLENN HAZLETT
Glenn F. Hazlett, 63, of Winfield, passed away March 2, 2022 at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
He was the son of the late Sherman and Phyllis G. Roberts Hazlett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Addison and his sister, Sue King.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Lesha Vance Hazlett; children: Kera Taylor (Michael) of Culloden, Doug Hazlett (Mercedes) of Red House, Shannon Hazlett (Ashley) of Scott Depot, and Ryan Hazlett of Winfield; grandchildren: Carleigh, Hannah, Peyton, Evan, Kloe, Grayson, Parker, Brooklyn, and Owen, as well as a brother in-law, Richard King.

KAREN J. HICKMAN
Karen J. Hickman, 78, of Scott Depot, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was the former R.N. at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Pittsburg and the head nurse at the Tuberculosis Control Clinic in Lakeland, Florida. She was a longtime volunteer at the animal rescue shelter in Florida.
She was the daughter of the late Donald and Pauline Rouse. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Steven Johnson.
Survivors include her husband, William Hickman; son, Richard (Lesa) Johnson of Poca and a half-brother.
Memorial service was held Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Raynes Funeral Home, Eleanor with Pastor Paul Boggess officiating.

DENNIE HOFFMAN
Dennie Lee Hoffman, 92, of Eleanor, passed away February 28, 2022, at home.
Dennie was born at Elkridge, West Virginia on April 29, 1929, to the late Jesse David and Eva Jane Turley Hoffman. Dennie was retired from the US Army after more than 20 years and retired from Monsanto Company, Nitro, West Virginia. During his tenure in the US Army, Dennie served in Korea, Japan, Germany and on the Island of Okinawa with additional duties in Austria, France and the US Military Academy at West Point, NY where he taught Military Communications. Dennie also taught Military Communications at the US Army Southeastern Signal School at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Dennie is also a long-time member of Rock Branch Independent Church.
Dennie is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mrs. Helen Walls Hoffman; sons Steven (Kim) Hoffman of Hurricane and Michael (Lisa) Hoffman of Poca; brother James “Brownie” Hoffman of Sun City, FL; sister Crystal Garnett Yates of Poca and grandchildren Jason, Zachary, Mitch and Cassidy.
A tribute to the life of Mr. Dennie Lee Hoffman was held Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Rock Branch Independent Church with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

BERTHA LARCH
Bertha Marie “Ginger” Larch, 77, of Hurricane, peacefully departed from this earth March 6, 2022, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 2, 1944, to the late James Ernest Brooks and Luzetta Bono Brooks. In addition to her parents, Ginger is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Arthur Larch, Sr.; her three sons: Bernard, Biff (Sandy) and Bryan (Mikki); six siblings: James, Diana, Debora, Teresa, David and Michael; five grandchildren: Lea, Noah, Amanda, Asher and James; and by every life she has touched over the years.
She retired from United Bank, attended Lighthouse Baptist Church and was an avid animal lover. She leaves behind a legacy of strength and love and a touch of stubbornness.
A service to honor the life of Ginger was held on Wednesday, March 9, at Snodgrass Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Prevett officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.

RONALD LEE MOONEY
Ronald Lee “Buck” Mooney, 85, of Liberty, went to be with the Lord, Friday, March 04, 2022.
Born September 18, 1936, in McCorkle, WV. He served his country with honor in the US Navy during the Korean War. After departing the US Navy, he served 33 years with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier before retiring.
Buck loved his wife and family endlessly. He was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a kind and loving man that loved to joke with everyone he met. He seldom met a stranger. He was an active member of Maranatha Baptist Church which he considered his extended family. Buck touched a lot of people’s lives with his service to the Lord, his fellowship, and his constant smile. He will be missed by many.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Elizabeth Clark Mooney, sister, Bessie Caruthers Huff, brothers, Harold Clark, Walter Jr. Mooney, Carl “Sug” Mooney, Howard Mooney, Paul Mooney, Robert Mooney, and his grandson Brian Long.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane, and his children; Paul Glenn Mooney, Ronald Lee II (Tina) Mooney, Elizabeth Long (David Witt), William Roy Mooney, Nancy Grace (Michael) Johnson, Laura Lane (Bill) Chapman, and Mary Jane Mooney; 9 grandchildren, Ronald “Ronnie” III Mooney, Rachel Bisden, Jeffrey Mooney, Jonathan Long, Sarah Johnson, Paula Mooney, Tommy Chapman, Sierra Bostic, and Chelsea Setliff; 12 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his brother Jack (Donna) Mooney.
Funeral service will be at 1200 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Maranatha Baptist Church, 1 Maranatha Acres, Sissonville, with Pastor Kevan Bartlett officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at the Hunt Cemetery, Frame.

JEFF EDWARD PAUL
Jeff Edward Paul, 52, formerly of St. Albans, passed away on February 25, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Paul.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Paul; children: Jasper Paul, Makayla Bennett, Grace, Misty and Cheyenne Paul; 4 grandchildren; sister: Sherri Roberts; brother: Mark Paul; and 5 nephews and 2 nieces.
Funeral service was Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Elder Harold Johnson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Hurricane.

DARRELL LEE STONE
Darrell Lee Stone, 79, of Poca, passed away March 7, 2022, in the Hubbard Hospice House West.
Darrell is retired operator from Kanawha Stone and an Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jean Stone; children Scott Stone, Carol Witt and Tony Witt; sister Marietta Burford and her husband Charlie; brothers Edward Stone and wife Viola and Michael Stone and wife Judy and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
At his request services will be private and entombment will take place at Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

SHIRLEY TUCKER
Shirley E. “Dick” Tucker, 88, of Grimms Landing, passed away Sunday, March 6, 20222 at his home following a long illness. He was a graduate of Buffalo High School and was a Christian. He attended Oma Chapel Church and several other local churches. Dick was a member of the United Steel Workers Union and retired from Foote Mineral with 32 years of service.
He was the son of the late John Tucker and Velva Oldaker Tucker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Justin Tucker and sister, Loleida Jeffers.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Christine “Patsy” Tucker; daughters, Linda Wamsley of Pt.Pleasant and Paula (Frank) Hess of Leon; sisters, Joy (Danny) Thaxton of Buffalo and Reba (Darrell) King of Leon; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
At the request of the family there will be no services.
