Community Calendar for Week of March 17

MONDAYS
There is a free Zumba class at Valley Park in Hurricane starting at 5:30 p.m.

TUESDAYS NOW – MAY 24
There will be a free community Bible Study on Tuesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Bible art journaling from 10 a.m. to noon at My messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane.

WEDNESDAYS NOW – MAY 25
There will be workshops every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Create seasonal decore, wreaths, signs, paint pouring, crochet, cards, jewelry, and more.

THURSDAYS NOW – MAY 19
There will be home school arts and crafts classes from 1 to 2 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5 per participant.

FRIDAYS NOW – MAY 20
There will be crafts for toddlers from 10 a.m. to noon at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5.
There will be Friday Crafternoon classes for children from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Ages 4 and up. The cost is $5-10 per participant.

NOW – MARCH 19
The AMT Kids Spring Consignment Event will be held at Valley Park in Hurricane.

MARCH 18
The Putnam Chamber of Commerce will be holding Toast! at Drip Coffee at Area 34, 971 Route 34, Teays Valley, from 8 to 9 a.m.

Creek Don’t Rise will be performing from 6 to 8 p.m. at Drip’s Cafe on Main Street.

There will be a special presentation on the 23rd Psalm by Elvie Pierce at 2 p.m. at Sousanah Free Will Baptist Church on Charley’s Creek Road in Culloden.
There will be live music with Amanda, Ryan and Chris at Fairways from 7 to 10 p.m. at Fairways, 3706 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.

The Spring Bridal Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Huntington Mall.
GloryWay will be performing at 6 p.m. at West Virginia Home Mission Church, 1128 Benamati Avenue, Nitro.

MARCH 23
Children in grades 3-8 can learn how to make good choices and live a healthy lifestyle during Health Rocks! at 3:30 p.m. at the Eleanor Library.

MARCH 24
There will be an author talk and book signing with Laura Boggess at 6 p.m. at the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.

MARCH 25
A writer’s group will meet from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane.

MARCH 26
Shaolin Do Martial Arts, 705 1st Avenue S, Nitro, will be holding a self defense class at 2 p.m. The cost is $10. For more information, call 304-395-1426.
There will be a benefit concert featuring Alien Super Jesus, Device, and Bettie to benefit the Nitro Food Pantry from 6 to 9 p.m. at 234 Lee Avenue, Nitro. The cost is $2.

There will be a light and shadow family science workshop at 1:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Library.

A paranormal discussion group will be meeting at 6 p.m. at the St. Albans Historical Society, 404, 4th Avenue, St. Albans. Theresa’s Haunted History of the Tri-State will be presenting “Cemetery Legends.”
Leann Ray, an editor with the Charleston Gazette-Mail and editor of the FlipSide column for teens, will be discussing her career as a journalist at 2 p.m. at the Main Library in Teays Valley.

MARCH 31
A representative from National Youth Advocate Program will be at the Eleanor Library from 2 to 3 p.m. to answer questions about foster care.
Local podcasters will be discussing their podcasting experiences at 2 p.m. at the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.

APRIL 1
Battleground Wrestling presents the Battle of Midway Mania starting at 7 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.
