Community Calendar for Week of April 7

MONDAYS
There is a free Zumba class at Valley Park in Hurricane starting at 5:30 p.m.

TUESDAYS NOW – MAY 24
There will be a free community Bible Study on Tuesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Bible art journaling from 10 a.m. to noon at My messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane.

WEDNESDAYS NOW – MAY 25
There will be workshops every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Create seasonal decore, wreaths, signs, paint pouring, crochet, cards, jewelry, and more.

THURSDAYS NOW – MAY 19
There will be home school arts and crafts classes from 1 to 2 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5 per participant.

FRIDAYS NOW – MAY 20
There will be crafts for toddlers from 10 a.m. to noon at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5.
There will be Friday Crafternoon classes for children from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Ages 4 and up. The cost is $5-10 per participant.

APRIL 7 – 10
There will be a spring revival at Sycamore Independent Missionary Baptist Church, 5839 Sycamore Road, Hurricane, at 7 p.m. nightly with evangelist Alan Frye.

APRIL 8 – 10
There will be a revival at 6 p.m. nightly with Evangelist George Holley at the Buffalo Church of the Nazarene, 25053 Buffalo Road.

APRIL 8 – 9
April’s Closet free clothing giveaway will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2440 US Route 60, Hurricane.

APRIL 8
The Harry Potter WizardFest will be held at The Loud, 741 6th Avenue, Huntington. There will be trivia, Quidditch, butterbeer, costume contest, and dance party. Ages 18 and under allowed with parent. For more information, go to wizardfest.com
There will be a foam dance party for children ages 6-10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.; and ages 11-16 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at The Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $8 per child.
The Hurricane First Church of God, located at 3225 East Putnam Avenue, Hurricane (one block north of former Rite-Aid store) will be holding their monthly, second Friday Gospel Sings, beginning on April 8th, at 7 p.m.
Ladies’ Craft Night will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The craft will be painting a layered wood bunny cut out. The cost to attend is $30. Call (309) 912-3191 to register.

APRIL 9
The Cross Lanes Baptist Church, 102 Knollwood Drive, will be holding an Easter event from 4 to 6 p.m.
The North Putnam Little League will be hosting the opening day of the Buffalo Softball Field from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Nitro Easter Eggstravaganza will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at Nitro City Park.
The Nitro Church of the Nazarene, 1400 Sattes Circle, Nitro, will be holding a spring vendor craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Kanawha River Bass Tournaments will be holding a scale fundraiser tournament at the Nitro boat ramp starting at 6 a.m. For more information, go to Kanawha River Bass Tournaments on Facebook.
There will be an egg hunt from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Fraziers Bottom Church of God, 19064 Winfield Road, Fraziers Bottom.
The Pulse Church will be holding an Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. at the Winfield Middle School.
There will be a craft fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Winfield Riding Club.
The 3rd Annual Derek Casto Memorial Putnam County Fair Horse Show will be held at 1 p.m. at the Winfield Riding Club.
There will be a Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt at 8 p.m. at Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive. Bring a flashlight and a basket/bag.
Peyton and Peppy Boutique, 2741 Main Street, Hurricane, will be holding a Spring Sip N’ Shop from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Egg hunt, freebies, and discounts.
The United Methodist Women of Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane are sponsoring the Annual Spring Festival annual
Easter Egg and Craft Sale from 9:00 a.m.to 2:00 p.m.

APRIL 10
First Baptist Church, Main Street, Hurricane, will be holding an Easter cantata called “Experiencing God” at 2:30 and 6:30 p.m.

APRIL 12 – MAY 3
There will be a free four-week workshop on Dining with Diabetes from 1 to 3 p.m. at John Henson Senior Center, 2800 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane.

APRIL 13 – 15
Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House, will be holding a special Easter presentation called “Journey to the Cross” from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m.

APRIL 14
Tale and Trail, a fun Easter event for families with children age 2 through 5th grade, will be held at 6 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. There will be Easter stories and an egg hunt on the trails. Register by going to https://riverridge.tv/taleandtrail

APRIL 15 – 16
Homemade Baked Goods will be sold at the Sweet Buy & Bye Shoppe, Buffalo, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

There will be a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. at River Ridge Church, 1 Saturn Way, Hurricane.
