The long-waited pickleball courts are now open.
The first pickleball match at Bridge Park in Hurricane is now history.
The match followed the Wednesday, April 20, ribbon cutting and featured Ginny Hart and Sherry Hayes versus Monk and Barb Collins.
Pickleball has been described as tennis in slow motion. The courts are about one-third as large as a tennis court and the ball travels about one-third the speed of a tennis ball. The ball is similar to a wiffle ball in design but is harder and smaller.
To win a match, a player or a team must win two of three games. The first to score 11 points is the winner unless the previous score was tied at 10.
