LINDA F. ADKINS
Linda F. Adkins, 76, of Hurricane, died peacefully at her home on May 12, 2022. She was retired from the Putnam County Board of Education, a member of Mount Salem Church, and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was predeceased by her parents Clifton and Gladys Short; sister, Sandy Short and brother, Bo Short. She is survived by her husband, George V. Adkins; her daughters, Ida Dorsey (Rick), Sherry Mynes (Harold), Paula Totten (Roger Roberts) and her grandchildren Jacob Bird, Makenna Slack, Jarod Dorsey and Jadon Dorsey. She is also survived by her best friends and sister, Dee and Jon Whifield, sisters Mona Lively, Jackie Powers, Jenny Miller and Sissy Richards.
Funeral service was Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Kernen officiating. Burial was in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.

ELIZABETH ANN ARTHUR
Elizabeth Ann Cline Arthur, 80, of Coin, IA, formerly of Liberty, passed away Friday, May 6th, 2022, following a long illness. She was born September 10th, 1941, to the late Walter and Eva (Hackett) Cline.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Jerry Arthur, daughter Kimberly Arthur; daughter Jodi O’Neil; sister Mary Cline; brother Jimmy Cline. Elizabeth is survived by her longtime caregiver’s daughter Amie (Danny) Johnson of Coin; grandson Jacob (Bryce Wilkes) Holmes of Coin. She is also survived by brother David (Penny) Cline of Henderson, NV; stepson Terry (Angela) Arthur of Liberty; stepson Ronny (Rhonda) Arthur of Clayton, NC; stepson Micheal Arthur of TN; step grandson Alex Arthur of WV; step grandson Vance Arthur of TN; special niece Dawn (Brian) Engberg of Henderson, NV; and many other family members that will miss her dearly. Special friends Jane Smith of Liberty; Carol Holmes of Eleanor; Shelly Mellencamp of Clarinda, IA and Suzanne Smith of Clarinda.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 18th, 2022, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home with Pastor James Legg and Frank Allen, Jr. officiating. Burial was in Schowen Cemetery, Bancroft.

VIRGINIA RUTH BISHOP
Virginia Ruth Bishop, 84, of Hurricane, went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2022.
She is retired from Putnam County Schools; attended South Charleston High School and graduated from Sistersville High School. Ruth was a faithful member of Rock Branch Independent Church where she sang for many years in the church choir and was a member of the ladies’ aid. She also enjoyed working in the rummage sales and church camps.
She is preceded in death by her son T.J. Bishop, Jr.; sisters Evelyn Warner and Thelma Smith; brother Lee Parsons and great grandson Ethan Thompson.
Virginia Ruth is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Jack Bishop; sons Jerry (Laura) Bishop and Tony Bishop; six grandchildren Cassie Bishop Thompson, Samantha (Adrian) Allen, Jessica Bishop, James Bishop, Anndrea Spangler, and Jaclyn Bishop and 11 great grandchildren.
A tribute to the life of Virginia Ruth Bishop was held Monday, May 16, 2022 at Rock Branch Independent Church with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

CHARLES CONNER
America’s Greatest Generation has lost another hero. Charles Harley Conner, 99, of Tornado went home to be with the Lord of Saturday, May 14, 2022 at his residence.
He was born in Hurricane to the late Charles Marshall and Elizabeth Susan Legg Conner. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Eva Belle Lowe Conner; daughter, Connie H. Ocheltree and son, Michael B. Conner.
Harley was retired Carpenter from the Carpenters Union Local. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, St. Albans and a graduate of Hurricane High School.
He was in the US Army during World War II where he served with the 3rd Armored Division, 23rd Battalion and received a Purple Heart.
Surviving are his granddaughter, Shelley Baughman; grandson, Stephen Ocheltree (Heidi); great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Walters and Noah Ocheltree; great great grandson, Connor Walters. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home, St. Albans, with Pastor Duane DeFoe officiating. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, with Military Honors .

DIANA CUNNINGHAM
Diana G. Cunningham, 76, of Poca, passed away May 13, 2022, at home.
Diana is a graduate of Poca High School and retired with over 45 years of service from Poca Gino’s.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dennis “Dink” and Leona Johnson.
She is survived by her husband Ronnie Cunningham; children Markita Hissom and John Cunningham; sisters Delores Rutledge and Wanda Bailey; brother Dennis Ray Johnson; 7 grandchildren Brittany Uline, Corey Uline, Abigail McCallister, Destinee McCallister, Maddison McCalllister, Ryder McCallister, and Leo Cunningham and 2 great grandchildren Kylie Uline and Lilly Uline.
A tribute to the life of Diana was held Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg Blake officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

BILLY DON FORE JR.
Billy Don Fore Jr., 63, of Hometown, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in his sleep.
He was born on December 23, 1958 in South Charleston to Ruth Ann (Pringle) Johnson and Bill Sr. (Janice) Fore.
He is preceded in death by his Father, brother, Roger Fore, son Kevin Ferrell and brother Jason Long.
He is survived by his mother, a loving wife of 43 years, Sue (Reed) Fore; sister, Kristi (Jim) Sinnott; brothers Travis, Adam and Tony Long; and daughters Angie (Jim) Elliott and Missi (Jay) Fuller. Billy loved with his whole heart and leaves behind a special grandson Dusty (Cerenda) Priddy as well as Shawn, Seth, LJ and Hunter; granddaughters Kate (Chris) Cline, Kristen, Elizabeth, Jessica and Haylee; great grandchildren, who he absolutely adored, Cambrie, Maleigha and Christopher; many aunts, uncles and numerous nieces and nephews.
Billy served in the United States Army and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #170 A.F.A.M. He was an avid WVU Football fan and loved NASCAR, especially the Earnhardt’s. Billy had a second love, known to many, and that was a love for guitars and music. Picking on one of his guitars made him happy. His one of a kind laugh and contagious smile will be remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
Funeral service was Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Chapman Funeral Home, Winfield, with Pastor James Dennis officiating.

DOREEN JONES
Doreen Gale Ashworth Jones, 63, of Hurricane, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, after an extended illness.
She was a homemaker and a baby-sitter, she loved camping and spending time with family.
She is survived by her husband Freddie Jones, Sister Denise Taylor and Brother Lee Ashworth. And several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Monday, May 16, 2022, at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Caudell officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

PEGGY LIVELY
Peggy Joan Lively, 82, of Hurricane, passed away May 15, 2022, in St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Peggy is retired from Putnam County Schools as a bus driver; former CNA with Home Agencies and former co-owner of Angel Ave. Assisted Living.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Pamela Dolan; father Charles Snyder; mother Gracie Snyder and stepmother Ada Snyder.
She is survived by her two children Mark (Christy) Lively of Culloden and James H. (Cindy) Lively, Jr. of Buffalo; son-in-law Timmy Dolan of Hurricane; sister Gloria Jean Lively of OH; brothers Albert Snyder of Midway, Larry Snyder of St. Albans and John Snyder of Teays Valley and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A tribute to the life of Peggy Joan Lively was held Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park.

DAVID RICHARDSON
David W. “Beergut” Richardson, 56, of Poca, passed away May 15, 2022, at home.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roy Junior and Betty Richardson and brother Michael Richardson.
He is survived by his three children Brittany Richardson, and her mother Wendy Richardson, Hollie White and Jessica Richardson and his siblings Tudy, Dwight, Marvin, Bob, and Sharon.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

PEGGY SMITH
Anna Ruth “Peggy” Smith, 84, of Leon, passed away May 11, 2022 at Story Point of Gahanna following a long illness. She was a 1955 graduate of Buffalo High School and retired from Sears and Roebuck with 28 years of service. She was a member of Fairwood Baptist Church in Columbus OH and attended Leon Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Dewey Williams and Eunice Warner Williams. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandson; Nathan Peselnick; three brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Russell Smith; daughter Jeannie (Daniel) Tien of Columbus OH; son, Jeffrey L. Smith of Grove City OH; granddaughter, Carly (Nate) McCarter of Brunswick MD sister, Donna Hagerman of NC.
Funeral service was Tuesday May 17, 2022 at Raynes Funeral Home (Eleanor Chapel) with Pastor Fred Sparks officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Given.

ERNEST M. TAYLOR JR.
Ernest Morrell “Butch” Taylor Jr., 79, of Scott Depot, passed away on April 19, 2022.
He was born on September 29, 1942 to the late Ernest M. Taylor and Grace Andrews Taylor in Youngstown Ohio.
He graduated Conneaut High School in 1960. After serving honorably in the U.S. Air Force, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Florida State University. He accepted a job with the U.S.D.A. in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he also earned a Master of Science Degree from the University of Wyoming.
He spent 20 years in the Wyoming Air National Guard and retired after 30 years as a Soil Scientist. In 2007, he moved to WV to be closer to his nephew Mike and his family, as well as his “adopted” Wells family, whom he had much love and respect for. He did make it clear that he would miss his neighbors and family from Neal Ave., and his good friend Gerald Schuman, who he worked and played with for many years. He enjoyed fishing, camping and serving his community and church where he was generous with his time and money. He was also known to enjoy dining out and all who knew or met him would agree that he loved sharing a meal with friends and family. Even if he did flirt with the waitresses! His greatest joy came from spending time with his great nieces and nephew. The real reason he moved back east. Everyone he met all have a “Butch” story.
He was preceded in death by his brother Gilbert M. Taylor.
He is survived by his brother Jeffrey S. Taylor of Conneaut, OH, his nephews, Mike (Stacy) Taylor of Winfield, Doug Taylor and Matt Taylor of Conneaut, OH, Nathan Taylor of Painesville, OH; nieces, Sarah Lucas and Kalli Taylor of Conneaut, OH.
Butch loved and appreciated his church family and especially Pastor Sonny Williams of Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene.
A celebration of life was held Sunday, May 15, at Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Charles V. Williams officiating.

BARBARA JEAN TERRY
Barbara Jean Terry, 88, of Hurricane, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2022 at her home after an extended illness. She was a graduate of Hurricane High School in 1951 and was a member of the Hurricane Main Street Church of Christ. She was also a member of The Harvest Club and The Putnam Quilt Lover Guild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Okie D. Terry, her parents Albert and Virgie Vickers, grandson Ivan D. Terry II.
She is survived by sons Ivan Darnell (Janet B) Terry, Forrest O. (Sandra K) Terry and Debbie (Mark) Greene; grandchildren Joshua F (Erin) Terry, Matthew B. (Elizabeth) Terry, Tara Browning and great granddaughter Samantha Terry. Brother Albert Vickers and sister Annette Walker.
Funeral service was Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home with D. J. Curry officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.
