The Putnam County Aging Program held the annual Putnam County Senior Picnic on Thursday, August 18, at Valley Park in Hurricane. The theme, “Carnival,” featured interactive booths with 35 social service vendors sharing information about services available to seniors in the Putnam County area.
Entertainment was on the menu. Lee Dean of the Secretary of State’s office in Charleston kindled past memories by portraying “Elvis” and Frank Sinatra. In addition to the music, attendees were treated to free lunch, door prizes and participated in competitions.
The event is supported by Putnam County Parks and Recreation which provides its giant shelter and assists with the event set up. More than 200 seniors from the Buffalo, Hometown, and Hurricane Senior Centers were in attendance.
