Putnam Reaps $7,100 in REAP Grants

The Town of Bancroft and the Putnam County Solid Waste Authority were the recipients of grants of $2,100 and $5,000 from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s (WVDEP) Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan (REAP) program.

REAP announced the awards on Thursday, September 22nd. Bancroft will use the grant to assist with disposal fees for a town cleanup event. The PCSWA will utilize its award to assist with wages for the County’s litter control officer.

REAP awarded $98,000 in Litter Control grants statewide to county solid waste authorities, county commissions, and municipalities. A total of 25 grants were approved.

Funding for the litter control program is generated from 50% of civil penalties imposed upon persons convicted of unlawful disposal of litter and state agency facility recycling revenue pursuant to West Virginia Code 22-15A-4 and 22-15A-5.
