Community Calendar for Week of December 1

NOW – DECEMBER 26
The St. Albans Festival of Lights is going on nightly from 6 to 8 p.m. at the St. Albans City Park, 931 Observatory Drive, St. Albans.

THROUGHOUT DECEMBER
The Buffalo United Methodist Church will be hosting an Advent Bible Study every Thursday morning at 10 a.m.

DECEMBER 2 – 3
The 18th Annual River Arts Show will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Charleston, 520 Kanawha Blvd W. Admission is$3.
There will be a live Nativity at Yuletide in the Parkat Valley Park in Hurricane from 6 to 9 p.m.

DECEMBER 2
There will be a free tire collection day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at West Virginia Cashin Recylcables in Nitro.
Yuletide in the Park will be held at Valley Park in Hurricane. Jingle Tails Pet Parade at 5:30; ugly sweater contest at 5:45; caroling at 6; tree lighting ceremony at 6:30; Santa arrives at 6:35 p.m.

DECEMBER 3
The 2022 St. Albans Lighted Boat Parade will start at 7 p.m. on the Kanawha River. Please keep in mind that part of the St. Albans Roadside Park is under construction.
The Buffalo United Methodist Church will be holding a Christmas Bazaar starting at 10 a.m.
Santa Claus will be coming to the Bancroft Town Park from 6 to 8 p.m.
The St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Christmas Craft Show and Vendor Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s, 2008 20th Street, Nitro.
Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House, will be holding their Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner at 6 p.m.
There will be photos with Santa at the Putnam County Animal Shelter in Red House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $15.
Mountain State Christian School, 1948 Martin Lane, Culloden, will be holding a Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Santa’s Workshop vendor fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Celebration Villa of Teays Valley, 4000 Outlook Dr, Hurricane.
There will be a reindeer craft class for all ages from 10 a.m. to noon at Area 34, 971 Route 34, Teays Valley. The cost ranges from $5-15. Register by going to sokaiclubhouse.com
First Baptist Church of Hurricane, located on Main Street, will be holding Breakfast With Santa at 8:30 a.m. To RSVP, call 859-533-4066.
There will be a Kids Gift Making Workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Prices vary by craft.
The West Teays Elementary Craft Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at ZoneOut Sports, 201 Morris Court, Hurricane.

DECEMBER 4
Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House, will be holding a youth gingerbread house decorating party starting at 6 p.m. For ages 3-12th grade.

DECEMBER 5 – 20
Two-million lights will be twinkling this year at the West Virginia State Farm Museum in Point Pleasant to celebrate the Christmas season. Santa will also be on hand to talk with the kids Thursday through Sunday each week. The display runs Dec. 5-20 from 6-9 p.m.

DECEMBER 5
Come out to the Eleanor Library at 10 a.m. meet and greet with Putnam County’s historical organization, the Upper Vandalia Historical Society.

DECEMBER 6
There will be a Christmas playdate for children ages 2-5 at 10 a.m. at the So-Kai Kidz Clubhouse, located in the Commons building at Valley Park. The cost is $10 per child. Register by going to www.sokaiclubhouse.com

DECEMBER 8
Create a beautiful keepsake box for yourself or as a gift at the Eleanor Library at 10:00 a.m. Use it to hold ornaments, recipes, jewelry, or treasured souvenirs. All supplies will be provided.

DECEMBER 9 – 10
The Macholah Ballet will be presenting The Nativity Ballet at 7 p.m. on Dec. 9 and 1 p.m. on Dec. 10 at King’s River Ministries, 777 Mallory Lane N, St. Albans.
The Hometown Independent Mission, 25 3rd Avenue, Hometown, will be holding Walk Through Bethlehem. Times are 6 until 10 p.m. nightly. Tour a biblical-style village.
Fear on The Farm, 8325 Winfield Road, Winfield, presents Photos with Krampus “The Christmas Devil” at 7 p.m. The cost is $25.

DECEMBER 9
Local Author Linda Reeder will be hosting a Meet & Greet at 10 a.m. at the Poca Library.
Creekside Church, 488 Charleys Creek Road, Culloden, will be holding Breakfast with Santa at 9 a.m. Register by calling (304) 806-2345.
Putnam County Schools Developmental Screenings will be held on Friday, December 9, at the Teays Valley Baptist Church, Teays Valley Road. Please call 304-586-0500 ext. 1133 to schedule an appointment.
The Women of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Hurricane will be holding a Women’s Christmas Gathering at 6:30 p.m.
There will be a foam dance party for children ages 1-6 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and ages 7-14 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $8 per child.

DECEMBER 10
The Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department Annual Christmas Parade will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Buffalo. Parade starts at the Buffalo Town Hall.
There will be photos with Santa at the Putnam County Animal Shelter in Red House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $15.
Salt & Light Food Pantry at the Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, Winfield, will be giving out food from 9 a.m. to noon.
There will be Breakfast with the Grinch and Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Conference Center at Valley Park in Hurricane. The cost is $15 per person. To register, call 681-233-1400.
Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2440 Route 60, Hurricane, will be holding a drive-thru food pantry from 9 to 11 a.m.
The Hurricane Christmas Parade will start at 4 p.m.
My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding a Christmas Ornament Workshop from 3 to 6 p.m.

DECEMBER 11
The Morgan’s Kitchen Old-Time Christmas Open House will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the historic cabin located at 2600 MacCorkle Avenue, St. Albans.
Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene is hosting Let’s Go! A Christmas Nativity Musical at 11 a.m.
