The 2022 Miss Yuletide Children’s Pageant was held on Saturday, November 19, at Valley Park in Hurricane. Participants dressed up in Christmas pajamas and nightgowns, as though they were waiting for Santa Claus to arrive.

Winners of the Children’s Pageant included Teenie Miss Audrey Elkins of Charleston; Baby Miss Gwendolyn Cherry of Hurricane; Toddler Miss Eliza Hill of Elkview; Little Miss Paisley Nance of Hurricane; Junior Miss Brianna Barger of Fraziers Bottom; and Mister Nolan Wilcoxen of Winfield.

This is the second year for the Yuletide Pageant. The Queens pageant – which included categories for Pre-Teen, Teen, Miss, Ms., and Mrs. – was held on October 1.

Winners of the Queens Pageant were Pre-Teen Miss Kylee Stanley of Hurricane, Teen Miss Alyssa Smith of Poca; Miss Lidia Midcap of New Martinsville, Tonia Crawford of Ripley, and Ms. Jaime DeRuiter of Red House.

The Yuletide Pageant is open to contestants statewide. Local participation for this year was up considerably over the inaugural event held in 2021.
