High Water Results in Road Closures

Flood waters threatened a house on Hurricane Creek Road on Thursday, February 16.

The 2.6 inches of rain on Thursday, followed by an additional 1.2 inches on Friday, February 17, resulted in numerous high water reports and road closures in the county. The Heads Up app reported closures and blocked lanes on Plantation Road, Manilla Creek, Harmons Branch, Scary Creek, Bills Creek, Blue Lick, North Poplar Fork, Tacketts Branch, and Peach Ridge Roads. Water was also over the road at the Hurricane Reservoir, Route 62 at Hometown Park, Route 817 in the area of Trinity Rebar, and the intersection of Turkey Creek Road and Route 34 South.

High water made for early school closure on Friday.
