Community Calendar for Week of March 30

SATURDAYS THROUGH MARCH
There will be a free open gym for 1st through 5th graders from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at ZoneOut Sports, Morris Court, Hurricane.

MARCH 31 – APRIL 2
Mountaineer Stampede rodeo will be held at the Winfield Riding Club. Featuring barrel racing, calf roping, team roping, breakaway bull riding, pole bending, goat tying, and steer wrestling.

MARCH 31
Kanawha Valley Community Band will be in concert at Teays Valley Church of God, 185 Connection Point, Scott Depot. The concert begins at 7 p.m., but come early for dessert provided by the church.
Crafts of the Coal, a mobile food trailer that serves premium handcrafted ice cream, will be holding their opening night from 5 to 9 p.m. at The Garage, 3057 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane.
There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. for the new Hurricane Fire Department station located at 1 Rescue Way, Hurricane (Midland Trail just past Hurricane Middle).

APRIL 1 – 2
Guest speaker Lynn Hiles will be speaking at the Bancroft Mission, 5936 Charleston Road, Bancroft, at 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.

APRIL 1
The City of Nitro will be holding a veteran’s outreach program from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nitro War Museum, 2003 20th Street, Nitro. Veterans can learn about programs and benefits.
Mount Union Church, 19268 Jerry’s Run Road, Pliny, will be holding their annual pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. and Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m.
The Buffalo Nazarene Easter Bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Pulse Church will be holding an Easter Egg hunt at 4 p.m. at the Winfield Middle School.
Heartbeat of the Valley, Inc. will be holding a baby things sale from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at 58 Mission Way, Scott Depot.
There will be an AMT Kids Consignment Discount Day at Valley Park in Hurricane from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Light Up the Night for Autism will be held at 6 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. There will be an egg hunt from 6 to 7:45, and lantern decorating from 7:45 to 8 p.m. Meet at Shelter 2 for the egg hunt, and at the pond for Light Up the Night.
Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, located on Route 60, will be holding a Rise up With Jesus Family Easter Event at 2 p.m.
The Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, Putnam Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding their spring festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

APRIL 2
Buffalo United Methodist Church will be hosting an Easter egg hunt after Sunday worship.
Friends of Buffalo WV History will meet at the Buffalo Welcome Center, to celebrate the town of Buffalo’s 186th Birthday.
Faith Christian Fellowship, Route 62, Buffalo, will feature Pastor Mitchell Burch preaching at 6 p.m.
Harvest Chapel, 402 Main Avenue, Nitro, will be holding an Easter Car Hop. Adults will decorate the trunks of their cars with an Easter/Resurrection theme and hand out candy to the children.

APRIL 3
Pastor Johnathan Nelson will be speaking at Buffalo United Methodist Church, Buffalo Historic Squre, at 7 p.m.

APRIL 4, 6, 11, 13
First Baptist Church of Hurricane, 2635 Main Street, will be hosting fly fishing lessons. The course fee is $20.

APRIL 4
Pastor Mark Harris will speak at Buffalo Nazarene Church at 7 p.m.
Pastor Paul Boggess will be speaking at Buffalo Church of God at 7 p.m.

APRIL 5 – 8
Mount Union Church, 19268 Jerry’s Run Road, Pliny, will be hosting Holy Week services at 7 p.m. each evening.

APRIL 6
There will be a Birdhouse Painting Party at the Poca Library. Stop by anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

APRIL 7
Buffalo United Methodist Church will open their doors from noon until 3 p.m. for anyone to come and have quiet time of prayer and meditation.
There will be an adult Easter egg hunt at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane, from 9 to 11 p.m. Admission is $25 per person.

APRIL 8 – 9
Teays Valley Baptist Church presents their theatrical production, “The Greatest Story Ever Told,” at 1 and 6 p.m. on Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday.

APRIL 8
The Town of Eleanor will be hosting a free pancake breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fire Department. There will be an Easter egg hunt at noon at the Eleanor Town Park.
Teays Valley Church of God, 185 Connection Point, Scott Depot, will be holding their Easter Eggstravaganza from 2 to 4 p.m. Easter egg hunts, inflatables, interactive stations, and more.
Hurricane’s annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 11 a.m. at Valley Park.
Valley Park in Hurricane will be holding the inagural Fudge Off fudge competition from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

APRIL 9
Buffalo United Methodist Church will be holding Easter services starting at 9:45 a.m.
