Hurricane First Baptist Cantata Shouts Out the Easter Message

The First Baptist Church of Hurricane brought the message of Easter to life through their cantata, “On A Hill Too Far Away,” on Sunday, March 26. The cantata featured the talented voices of the church’s choir, actors portraying Bible characters, and an interpretive dance team. The church offered two showings of the cantata, one in the afternoon and one in the evening.

Special selections included “Without the Cross” by Andrea Mashayekhi; “My Father’s House” by Tonya Browning, Tom Hollinger, Joyce Lincoln, and Jesse Sowards; and “At Calvary” with Nathan Arnold, Julia Cruickshank, and Seth Skiles.

Those who missed the cantata can see it online at https://vimeo.com/811826016 (first production) or https://vimeo.com/811859672 (second production).

On Easter Sunday, First Baptist Church will be holding traditional Easter worship services at 8:50 a.m. and contemporary services at 11 a.m. The Teays Valley Ministerial Association will also be sponsoring a 7 a.m. sunrise community service at Valley Park.
