Community Calendar for Week of April 13

APRIL 14
The Hurricane First Church of God will be hosting their monthly second Gospel Sing at 7 p.m. The church is located at 3225, East Putnam Ave, one block north of the new Dollar Tree store.
There will be a foam dance party for children ages 7-14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. Admission is $10 per child. For more information, call (681) 235-2603.

APRIL 15
EagleCon, a convention for video games, card games, board games, pop culture, and more, will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Appalachian Room at the University of Charleston.
There will be a Square Dance and Old Time Music Jam from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 520 11th Street, Huntington. Requested donation is $7 for adults and $5 for college and high school students.

The Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley will be showing the movie “Robin Hood” at 10 a.m.

Adda Baptist Church Friends And Family Day will start at 10:45 a.m. at the church, located at 244 Sugar Camp Road, Winfield.
Third Sunday Board Games will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Board Room, 270 Progress Way, Hurricane (behind Walmart).

APRIL 17
The Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley will be hosting Multi-Generational Story Time at 10 a.m.
The Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley will be hosting a Money Smarts for New Adults workshop at 5 p.m.
Yarn Spinners meet at the Putnam County Main Library at 5 p.m.

APRIL 18
There will be an upcycled crafternoon at 4 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley. Recycle and create crafts. All supplies provided.

APRIL 21 – 22
Saving Vintage, 401 Midland Trail, Hurricane, will be hosting the “Birds, Blooms & Bunnies” Spring Vintage Market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Eleanor Library will be hosting an Earth Day event with an environmentalist from the WV Department of Highways at 10 a.m.
Learn about line and geometric art inspired by West Virginia artist Charly Jupiter Hamilton at 2 p.m. at the Poca Library.
Putnam Crew will be hosting Toast at Area 34, 971 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, at 8 a.m.
The 2023 G.L.A.M Gala, a charity event hosted by Mission West Virginia and Moms on a Mission, will be held at the Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. For more information and to register, go to https://www.facebook.com/WVGlamGala/events
Putnam County Solid Waste Authority will be hosting an Earth Day Extravaganza from 2 to 5 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

APRIL 22
StinkFest 2023, a festival celebrating ramps and other local foods, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wild Ramp, 555 14th St W, Huntington.
Bags and Basket Bingo will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Buffalo High School.
The West Virginia Food Truck Festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at the Eleanor Park.

The Walgreens Red Nose Day Car/Bike Show will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Eleanor O’Rielly’s Parking lot. Preregister at the Eleanor Walgreens or at the event. Charity bike ride starts at non in Buffalo at the gazebo. For more information, call 304-586-9064.
