County Commission News: Five Companies Bid on Jim Ridge Waterline Extension

The Tuesday, April 25, Putnam County Commission meeting was bid-opening time for the Jim Ridge Phase 2 Waterline Extension Project. The Commission received bids from five companies, ranging from a high of $3,421,539 to a low of $2,590,755. The low bidder was Chojnacki Construction of Hamlin. Following a review of all documentation, the bid will be awarded at the next commission meeting on May 9.

The project will extend current waterlines by almost ten miles to about 70 homes. Construction is slated to begin before August 1st and to be completed before May of 2024.

The Commission acted upon and approved a request by the Albert T. Summers Family Trust to rezone 7.09 acres from R-1 (single family residential) to C-2 (high density commercial use). The property is located on Liberty Park Drive in Scott Depot.

In other business, the Commission appointed Jason Baker to a term on the Putnam County Development Authority from April 25, 2023 to September 30, 2025. The Putnam County Development Authority (PCDA) is charged with attracting new businesses to the county and retaining existing businesses. Since 1961, the PCDA has increased the county’s tax base by establishing business parks and creating development contracts for manufacturing and industrial companies.

The Putnam County Commission holds regular meetings at 9 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month and at 5 p.m. on the last Tuesday.
