Community Calendar for Week of May 18

SATURDAYS THROUGH OCTOBER 28
The Putnam County Farmers Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon/Arby’s on Route 34 in Teays Valley.

MAY 19
The Dumont Tri-County YMCA 29th Annual Golf Tournament will start at 8:15 a.m. at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane.

MAY 20
Putnam County Sheriff’s Department will be holding a Hiring Test at 9 a.m. at Poca High School. Apply at https://putnamcounty sheriffwv.com/recruitment
There will be a food pantry starting at 8:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 3653 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
The Hurricane 100k Course Preview and Group Training Run will start at 8 a.m. at Meeks Mountain Trails, Hurricane City Park.
Cops N Rodders Classic Car Club will be holding a cruise-in from 5 p.m. until dusk at the Putnam County Bank parking lot in Hurricane (behind McDonalds). For more information, call 304-562-6903.

MAY 21
Third Sunday Board Games will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Board Room, 270 Progress Way, Hurricane (behind Walmart).

MAY 23
Business After Hours will be held at the Putnam County Bank Loan Center (interstate branch) in Hurricane from 5 to 7 p.m.

MAY 24
There will be a backyard gardening workshop at 11 a.m. at the Eleanor Library.
There will be lung cancer screenings from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Valley Health Care Systems – Hurricane. For an appointment, call 304-760-6040.
At approximately 5 p.m., Run for the Wall Riders will be exiting I-64 at Hurricane and traveling to Valley Park to spend the evening. Please plan to wear your best patriotic gear, line the sidewalks and welcome these riders to Hurricane.

MAY 25
There will be a home school science class from 10 a.m. to noon at the red barn at Hurricane City Park. Learn about compost.

MAY 26 – 28

There will be a spring/summer community clothing drive on Friday at 10 a.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Route 60, Milton.

MAY 27
There will be an electronics recycling event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hurricane High School.

MAY 28
The congregation of Buffalo United Methodist Church, located in the Buffalo Historic Square, invites you to join them for a special Pentecost Sunday Dinner beginning at 12:15.
The 2nd Annual Buffalo Praise Fest will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Gazebo.

MAY 30

MAY 31
Learn about ghost hunting with WV Unseen at the St. Albans Paranormal Discussion Group, St. Albans Historical Society, 404 4th Avenue, St. Albans.
There will be an end of school party from 12:30 to 8 p.m. at the Elanor Pool, featuring music and entertainment. Admission is $3 all day.

MONDAYS IN JUNE AND JULY
Food trucks will be coming to Hurricane’s Main Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

JUNE 1
The Eleanor Pool opens for the season. Hours are 12:30 to 6 p.m. Admission is $5 for ages 6 and up. Under 5 get in free.

JUNE 2
The Nitro Antique Car Club will be hosting a cruise-in starting at 5 p.m. at the Living Memorial Park, 21st Street and 2nd Avenue, Nitro.
Fitness Friday: There will be a hike at 10 a.m. at the Norman & Esther Walter Nature Park at 75 Wilkie Road, Red House Hill.

JUNE 3
There will be a free Children’s Ministries Conference from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Faith Christian Fellowship, 54 Krystal Lane, Buffalo. For more information or to register, call 304-654-2112.
