Community Calendar for Week of September 7

SATURDAYS THROUGH OCTOBER 28
The Putnam County Farmers Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon/Arby’s on Route 34 in Teays Valley.

SEPTEMBER 7
There will be story time at 10 a.m. at the Buffalo, Hurricane, and Main Putnam County Libraries.
A book club will meet at the Buffalo Library at 5 p.m.
There will be stand up paddleboarding lessons from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. at the Ridenour Lake in Nitro. The cost is $29; arrive by 6:30 p.m. For more information, text 304-610-8999.
There will be a Meet & Greet to learn more about American Heritage Girls and Troop WV1119 at 6 p.m. at Heizer Creek Community Church, 6580 Heizer Creek, Poca.
There will be a ladies’ trivia night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Area 34, 971 West Virginia Route 34, Teays Valley. The cost to play is $15; $10 for trivia.
A book club will meet at the Hurricane Library at 5:30 p.m.

SEPTEMBER 8
Christ Community Church, 733 Rocky Step Road, Scott Depot, will be holding a parents’ night out from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Bring your children for a showing of “Prince of Egypt.”
The Hurricane First Church of God, 3225 East Putnam Avenue, will be holding their monthly Second Friday Gospel Sing starting at 7 p.m.
There will be a foam dance party for children ages 7-14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $10 per child.

SEPTEMBER 9 – 10

SEPTEMBER 9
St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2008 20th Street, Nitro, will be holding an Italian feast from 4 to 6 p.m. The cost per meal is $10 and proceeds benefit the Nitro Mission Team Christmas basket initiative.
The City of Nitro Boomtown Days Festival will be held in Nitro.
The Nitro Antique Car Club will be hosting a car show at the Living Memorial Park, 21st Street and 2nd Avenue, Nitro. Registration starts at 9 a.m.
The 10th Annual Ride for Jesus will be held at the Iron Horse Church, 120 Blackwood Avenue, Nitro. Cars and trucks welcome.
Code Grey: Finding Calm in the Chaos, a workshop on stress and first responders, will be held at noon at the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department.
The Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, will be holding a food pantry from 9 a.m. to noon.
There will be an outdoor sing at 4 p.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church, 93 Kilgore Creek Road, Milton featuring the Jay Humphrey Trio and Corey Clark.
“The Wizard of Oz” will be showing at the Putnam County Main Library at 10 a.m.
The Hurricane 100k Trail Run and Relay Presented by the Dumont Tri-County YMCA will start at 6 a.m. at the Hurricane City Park’s Meeks Mountain Trails. To register, go to https://www.meeksmountain trails.org/hurricanehundred
There will be an immersive nature hike with Andy McKee at the Meeks Mountain Trails at the Hurricane City Park. Meet up at the big red barn.

Lone Oak Church of God Mission, 1303 Mclane Pike, Red House, will be holding a tent revival from 7 to 10 p.m. nightly.

There will be story time at the Putnam County Main Library at 10 a.m.
The 2023 Huntington Bank – Special Olympics WV Golf Classic will start at 10 a.m. at Sleepy Golf Club in Hurricane.

SEPTEMBER 12
There will be story time at the Eleanor and Poca Libraries at 10 a.m.
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cornerstone Lodge at Four Seasons Resort, 824 Hobba Drive, Buffalo.
The Freedom to Read Book Club will meet at the Putnam County Main Library at 5:30 p.m.
Yeager Design and Interiors, 168 Great Teays Boulevard, Scott Depot, will be celebrating their tenth anniversary from 3 to 8 p.m.
The Putnam County Reagan Day Dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane.

SEPTEMBER 13
