Community Calendar for Week of November 2

NOW – NOVEMBER 4
There will be an area wide clean up for Red House, Liberty, Black Betsy, Hometown, and Raymond City. Dumpsters will be placed along Jim Ridge Road from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

NOVEMBER 2
The Sugar Shed, 2291 Sugar Camp Road, Winfield, will be holding Christmas Time Under the Lights, a vendor fair, starting at 6 p.m.
There will be a family friendly guided nature hike from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. Meet up at the Zoology Zone Science Center.

NOVEMBER 3 – 4
St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2008 20th Street, Nitro, will be holding a craft/vendor show from 4 to 8 p.m. on the 3rdand 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 4th.
Saving Vintage, 401 Midland Trail, Hurricane, will be holding a Holiday Vintage Market from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday and 10 to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

NOVEMBER 3
Paint & Praise: Women of all ages are invited to awaken your inner artist at Teays Valley Church of God, 185 Connection Point, Scott Depot. The cost is $35 per person. Register by Oct. 22. For more information, call (304) 757-9222.
There will be an American Red Cross blood drive from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hurricane High School auxiliary gym.

NOVEMBER 4 – 5

NOVEMBER 4
The 2023 Wagging Tails and Nitro Ales, Smoke on the Water Edition Chili Cookoff will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on 2nd Avenue and 21st Street at Living Memorial Park in downtown Nitro.
The 29th Annual Eleanor Arts and Crafts Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Eleanor Volunteer Fire Department.
Gritt’s Midway Greenhouse, 14844 Charleston Road, Midway, will be hosting a silent reading time from 10 a.m. to noon.
The Deputy Sheriff Association will be holding a fall festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office in Winfield.
Teays Valley Christian School, 6562 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, will be holding a harvest festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Games, silent auction, activities, food, vendors and more.
The West Teays Elementary PTO will be holding a bingo night starting at 5 p.m. at the school. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Purchase tickets at https://westteayspto.ticketleap.com/bingo

NOVEMBER 5
There will be a Veteran’s Appreciation Day ceremony at the Putnam County Courthouse in Winfield starting at 2 p.m.
The 2023 Putnam Bridal Expo will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. General admission tickets are $5.
There will be a 4.5 mile Meeks Mountain Hike at 1:30 p.m. Meet up at the Hurricane City Park.

NOVEMBER 7
Oodles, 2825 Main Street, Hurricane, will be holding A Colorful Retro Christmas from 4 to 8 p.m.

NOVEMBER 8
There will be a hiring event for multiple industrial openings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Area 34, 971 Route 34, Teays Valley.
Allied Waste Sycamore Landfill, 3475 Sycamore Ridge Road, Hurricane, will be accepting the first 520 pounds of residential household trash for free on the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 304-562-3398.

NOVEMBER 9
Create a seasonal book page garland from 10 a.m. to noon at the Poca Library.
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce Network of Women will be holding a time management workshop at 8:15 a.m. at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Teays Valley.
Learn about Valley Park’s Fairy Trail and enjoy story time with Putnam County Library volunteers. Meet at the shelter nearest to the trail entrance at the back of the park at 10 a.m.

NOVEMBER 10 – 11
Yeager Design and Interiors, 168 Great Teays Boulevard, Scott Depot, will be holding their Christmas Open House from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The Bee Ridge Bears 4H Club will meet at 10 a.m. at Wade Chapel United Methodist Church.
The Nitro Church of the Nazarene, 1400 Sattes Circle, Nitro, will be holding a holiday bazaar from noon to 6 p.m.
