Community Calendar for Week of December 21

NOVEMBER – FEBRUARY
There is a free open gym for 1st through 5th graders every Saturday from to 11 a.m. at ZoneOut Sports, Morris Court, Hurricane.

NOW – JANUARY 1
The Krodel Park Festival of Lights will take place from 5:30 to 9 p.m. nightly at Krodell Park, Route 62, Point Pleasant.

NOW – DECEMBER 26
The St. Albans Festival of Lights operates nightly at the St. Albans City Park from 6 to 9 p.m. Closed Dec. 24 and 25.
Come visit Santa House at the St. Albans Roadside Park from 6 to 9 p.m. during the St. Albans Festival of Lights.

NOW – DECEMBER 22
The West Virginia State Farm Museum in Point Pleasant will be holding a Christmas light show from 6 to 9 p.m. nightly.

JANUARY 4, 11, 18
There will be a free tai chi class at 10 a.m. at the Buffalo Senior Center, 48 Wrights Avenue, Buffalo. To register, call 304-755-2385.

DECEMBER 21
Eleanor Presbyterian Church, 647 Eleanor Circle, will be holding a Longest Night/Blue Christmas service at 7 p.m.
The Bridge Church, 279 Dairy Road, Poca, will be holding a free clothing, hot meal, and food pantry event from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be holding an Ugly Sweater Trivia Night Extravaganza at the Bridge Cafe and Bistro, 3526 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
St. Timothy’s in the Valley Episcopal Church, 3434 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, will be holding a Blue Christmas Service at 7 p.m. for those who are sad, grieving, lonely or depressed.

DECEMBER 23
Zoology Zone Science Center, located in Valley Park in Hurricane, will be holding a movie night from 6 to 8 p.m. The movies will be “The Shepherd” (The Chosen) and “The Star.” Tickets are donation based.

DECEMBER 24
Oma Chapel Church, 2116 Arbuckle Creek, Leon, will be holding Christmas Eve morning services at 10 a.m. and evening services at 6 p.m.
Historical Square Community Church, 20058 Buffalo Road, Buffalo, will be holding a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. Congregational music with special singing by Pastor Joy Mccutcheon.
The Buffalo United Methodist Church, 27 High Street, will be holding a Christmas Eve service at 10 p.m.
First Baptist Church of Nitro, 2200 2nd Avenue, Nitro, will be holding Christmas Eve services at 7 p.m.
The Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, will be holding a Christmas Cantata at 9:30 a.m.
Hurricane Church of the Nazrene, Route 60, will be holding Christmas Eve services at 10:00 a.m.
Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2440 US Route 60, will be holding Christmas Eve morning services at 10:30 a.m.
Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 131 Mill Road, Hurricane, will hold Christmas Eve morning services at 10:30 a.m.
First Baptist Church of Hurricane, located on Main Street, will be having Christmas Eve morning services at 10 a.m. and a candlelight service at 6 p.m.
Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, Putnam Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding a Christmas Eve brunch at 9:15 a.m. and candlelight services at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.
River Ridge Church, Saturn Way, Hurricane, will be holding Christmas Eve services at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7 p.m.

Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, Putnam Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding a Christmas Day Dinner at 2 p.m. To register, call 304-562-6103.

King’s River Ministries, 777 Mallory Lane N, St. Albans, will be holding a New Years Eve bonfire from 6 to 8 p.m.
Buffalo United Methodist Church, 27 High Street, will be holding a a Song & Praise Service beginning 9:15 a.m., featuring the group Inheritance.
Hurricane Church of the Nazrene, Route 60, will be holding New Year’s Eve services at 10:40 a.m.

JANUARY 1
Bancroft Church of God Mission will be holding a New Year’s Day parade at 1 p.m. from the church to Bancroft Park.

JANUARY 2
Junior Explorers ages 0-6 can learn about the wonders of the universe and experience amazing animals from around the world from 9 a.m. to noon at Zoology Zone Science Center, located in Valley Park in Hurricane. Adults ages 13 and up: $8. Kids 4-12: $6. Ages 0-12: free.

STARTING JANUARY 4
