Putnam County Animal Shelter Announces New Director, New Goals

The Putnam County Commission and Putnam County Animal Shelter Board of Directors has announced the hiring of Tiffany DeBord as the first Director of the shelter.

DeBord, a Putnam County native, has a passion for helping animals and is a proven leader with a very strong work ethic. She is also a volunteer firefighter with the Poca Fire Department. All shelter employees, including the Animal Control Officers, will now report to her.

The Putnam County Commission and the Animal Shelter Board of Directors are entering into a partnership agreement with the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association in a move to make the shelter a lifesaving facility.

A KCHA official stated, “Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association has 10 years of experience running a lifesaving shelter, and we’re very eager to share our knowledge and programs. Our team is ready and willing to help the new Putnam County Animal Shelter Director successfully transition into their role. The Putnam County Commission and their community have proven they want a shelter that serves as a resource for their citizens and pets. We are thankful for the opportunity to assist in making these goals a reality.”
