HHS Red Hot and Heat Wave Show Choirs Make Winter Disappear

The theme of the Red Hot Show Choir’s performance show was “Our House.”

Hurricane High School’s award-winning show choirs, Red Hot and Heat Wave, held their annual dinner theatre this past weekend, January 5 – 7. The public had four chances to enjoy a cabaret style meal and witness both exhilarating shows, and the event was so popular that the final show on Sunday was sold out.

The theme of Heat Wave’s competition show was “Sunday Night Football,” and featured songs and dance routines which captured the excitement of watching the big game. Some of the songs included “The Winner Takes it All” by ABBA and “Get’cha Head in the Game” from High School Musical.

The theme of Red Hot’s competition show was “Our House.” Students performed in front of a backdrop of a stylized house to a medley of songs which were chosen to convey themes such as spending time with family and friends, hosting parties, and memories of home. Some of the songs chosen for medleys included “Our House of Memories” by Panic! At the Disco, and “Family Table” by the Zac Brown Band.

Throughout this next few months, Red Hot and Heat Wave will be traveling to various competitions held throughout West Virginia and the Midwest. This weekend, the two show choirs will be going to the Beavercreek Midwest Classic held in Beavercreek, Ohio.
