Community Calendar for Week of February 1

NOW – FEBRUARY
There is a free open gym for 1st through 5th graders every Saturday from to 11 a.m. at ZoneOut Sports, Morris Court, Hurricane.

FEBRUARY 1
Learn about chemistry during STEMuary at 3:30 p.m. at the Eleanor Library.
The Eleanor Events Planning Committee will meet the first Thursday of every month from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Eleanor Town Hall.
The American Legion James E. Marshall Post 187 will have a Four Chaplains Memorial Service at 6 p.m. at the Winfield Presbyterian Church on Ferry Street.
There will be an open interview event at AEP, 1 AEP Way, Hurricane, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

FEBRUARY 2
Otter Branch Church, 2402 18 Mile Creek Road, Buffalo, will be having a youth lock in event from 7 p.m. to midnight. Open to kindergarten through high school.
The Baked Flamingo will be hosting a Valentine cookie decorating class at 6 p.m. at 1267 Rentals, Route 62, Buffalo. For tickets, go to https://the-baked-flamingo.square.site
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a meet up at 7:30 a.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.
The Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley will be playing the movie “Super Mario” at 10 a.m.
PipeSounds presents A Night at the Silent Movies with guest artist Peter Krasinski on the Harrah Symphonic Organ at 7:00 p.m. at Forrest Burdette Memorial UMC, Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. Admission is $15 at the door; students are free.
My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding an open craft event for Mardi Gras and Valentines Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

FEBRUARY 3
Red House Baptist Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House, will be holding a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 8 to 11 a.m. The cost is $6 per person and proceeds go towards youth camp.

The 2024 Hurricane Polar Plunge will start at 3:30 p.m. at Hurricane City Park. The plunge will be at 5 p.m. and there will be an After Party at Fireside Grille.
My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane, will be hosting a ladies craft night from 6 to 9 p.m.
The Board Room, located behind the Hurricane Walmart, will be holding a Comic Trade Day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
FEBRUARY 4
Valley Cakes and Cafe, 165 Charleston Road, Poca, will be holding a bingo event with Lee’s Studio of Dance starting at 3 p.m.

FEBRUARY 7
The Buffalo Library will be hosting STEMuary: Coding Hearts from 9 a.m. to noon. Create a valentine using written bianary code.
Community Partners One Stop Pop-Up career fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Putnam Adult Education Center, 12056 Winfield Road, Winfield.
The Dress for Success River Cities Clothing Drive will be held from 7 to 4 p.m. at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Teays Valley.

FEBRUARY 9
The Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding a foam dance party for ages 7 to 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. The cost is $10 per child.
Social Event Space, 2833 Main Street, Hurricane, will be holding a Market Series from 6 to 9 p.m. Local crafts, food, and business vendors. Live music by Holly Forbes.

Bake My Day, 14 Bank Street, Nitro, will be holding a Make Your Own Macarons Party from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost to attend is $35 per person.
Gritt’s Midway Greenhouse, Route 62, Midway, will be holding their 3rd Annual Hearts and Houseplants event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
