Putnam County Division II Science & Engineering Fair Winners Announced

On Thursday, January 18, 2024, Putnam County Schools hosted the Division II Science & Engineering Fair. The county champions will advance to the Region III Science & Engineering Fair to be held at Coonskin Park Clubhouse on February 6, 2024. Winners at that competition will advance to the 2024 West Virginia Science & Engineering Fair (WVSEF) on March 4, 2024, at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.

Putnam winners were: Rylee Fauber, Winfield Middle, Project – “Heart Healthy,” Medial Science Champion; Maddox Eisel & Thea Henson, Poca Middle, Project – “The Birthday Paradox,” Math & Data Champion; Pryce Dejneka & Bryce Sandt, Poca Middle, Project – “Testing Behavioral Incentives,” Behavioral & Social Science Champion.

Abigail Toney, Winfield Middle, Project – “The Scoop on the Stroop,” in Behavioral & Social Science earned Runner-Up honors and the “Best of Fair” award. Abigail wowed the judges with her creative project topic, research, and enthusiasm.

Judges were: Bryce Mcelvogue (Terracon), Allen Davis (FBI), PE McClanahan and Dawn Gessel (Putnam County Schools), Cheryll Roberts (Putnam Career & Technical Center), and engineering student judges Sam Edgemon, Cole Richardson, and Nicholas Winter (Putnam Career & Technical Center).
