Bridge Park to Receive $100,000 Grant

Last week, Senator Joe Manchin announced that the City of Hurricane will be receiving a $99,964 grant to improve outdoor recreation opportunities at Bridge Park. The grant will allow the city to construct new pickleball courts, a shade canope, sidewalk, and additional amenities.

The grant is part of the $470,254 that is available through Land and Water Conservation Grants for projects to improve public outdoor recreation in West Virginia and was secured through the Great American Outdoors Act.

Manchin said, “Today’s (April 2nd) announcement is welcome and exciting news for communities across Wild and Wonderful West Virginia. I am proud that the Great American Outdoors Act continues to make major investments in our parks and public lands for our children and grandchildren. Across West Virginia, families will be able to enjoy renovated and safer park facilities where they can gather for basketball games, summer barbecues and everything in between.”

Other grants were $150,000 for Larenim Park Amphitheater Rehabilitation in Mineral County, $124,850 for West Milford Town Park Development, $58,000 for Moundsville Riverfront Park Improvements, and $37,440 for Barbour County Park Improvements in Belington, West Virginia.
