Community Calendar for Week of May 30

MAY – OCTOBER

  • The Putnam County Farmers Market will be held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field next to Exxon on Route 34, Teays Valley.
  • The Country Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

MAY 30

  • The First Baptist Church of Hurricane, 2635Main Street, will be holding a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center. For appointments, visit redcrossblood.org and enter fbc hurricane, or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

MAY 31

  • Our Victory Church will be holding a summer kick off from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Nitro Pool. Games and activites, food, music, and friends.
  • There will be an evening of praise and thanksgiving at 7 p.m. at the Bancroft Community Park.
  • Putnam County Schools Developmental Screenings will be held at the Teays Valley Baptist Church on Teays Valley Road. Please call 304-586-0500 ext. 1133 to schedule an appointment.
  • Khegan Mclane will be performing from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bake My Day, 14 Bank Street, Nitro.
  • Slime Time: A Gross Hands-On STEM Adventure will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Eleanor Library. Make your own slime.
  • Farmers Bank, 3572 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, will be holding customer appreciation day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

JUNE 1

  • There will be an antique tractor pull at 1 p.m. at the West Virginia Farm Museum in Point Pleasant.
  • The Nitro City-Wide Yard Sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon.
  • 304Catfishing will be hosting their second tournament of the season. Registration starts at 4 p.m. at the Nitro Boat Ramp.
  • My Little Sunshine Boutique and Beauty, 420 1st Avenue South, Nitro, will be holding a summer vendor market from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • There will be a macaroon making party and fundraiser for the Samuel Family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bake My Day, 14 Bank Street, Nitro.
  • The Poca River Hunting, Fishing and Recreation Club, 789 Dupont Road, Poca, will be holding a new member fun day starting at 10 a.m. The non-member fee will be $6 per guest.
  • The Bridge Church, 279 Dairy Road, Poca, will be holding a car show from 3 to 7 p.m. There will be door prizes, raffles, and a hot dog sale.
  • The Bancroft Town Wide Yard Sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • There will be a free sports physical from 8 a.m. to noon at CAMC Teays Valley Patient Outcenter, 3948 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.

  • The Putnam County Library will be holding Baby Show Choir at 10 a.m. in June and July at the Winfield Park, 178 2nd Street.

JUNE 4

  • The City of Nitro will be sponsoring a free drive-in movie starting at dusk at 1700 Park Avenue, Nitro. This week’s movie will be “Trolls Band Together.”
  • The Bridge Church, 279 Dairy Road, Poca, will be holding a night of revival starting at 7 p.m.
  • The Eleanor Pool will be hosting Goodbye School Hello Pool starting at noon. Admission is $3 all day.

JUNE 5 – 8

  • Fraziers Bottom Church of God, 19064 Winfield Road, will be holding SCUBA Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 9 p.m. nightly.

  • Jersey Mike’s in Liberty Square, Teays Valley, will be holding a fundraiser for the Putnam County Fair.

  • Food Truck Fridays will be held at the Hurricane City Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • The Putnam County Deputy Sheriff’s Association’s First Annual Pickeball Tournament will be held at the Nitro City Park. Community night Friday from 6-9 p.m. Tournament starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

JUNE 7 – 8

  • The Winfield Watersports Weekend will be held on the Kanawha River near the Winfield Community Center, 178 Second Street.

JUNE 7

  • The Nitro Antique Car Club will be holding a cruise-in from 5 p.m. to dusk at 2nd Avenue, 21st Street, Nitro.
  • There will be a Zumba cardio dance party at 10 a.m. under the large shelter at Valley Park in Hurricane.
  • Lobster TrappN, 44 Midland Trail, Hurricane, will be holding their grand opening. Space Freq will be performing from 7 to 9 p.m.
