Blaze Destroys Hurricane Home

This home at 3 Southbrooke Drive in Hurricane was destroyed in an early Saturday morning blaze on June 29.

Hurricane Fire Chief Mike Hoffman stated that the first arriving units found heavy fire coming from the second floor and determined that the two occupants had vacated the residence. The blaze appears to have started on the second floor.

The call came in at 4:31 a.m. In addition to Hurricane Fire & Rescue, departments from Culloden, Teays Valley, Nitro, and Milton responded to the emergency. Hoffman reported that firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly and that the last unit departed from the scene by 8:30 a.m.

The home’s value is in the $350,000 range.
