KERMIT ‘KEITH’ ADKINS
Kermit “Keith” Adkins, 74, of Red House, passed away at home peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving wife and family on July 7, 2024.
He was born in Charleston on April 1, 1950, to the late Rev. Hiram and Marie Absten Adkins. He is also preceded in death by his son James Adkins; two sisters; four brothers; and mother and father-in-law Doris Mason and Ray Deal.
Keith was self-employed for 35 years, worked at Big Lots in Teays Valley, and the Putnam County Animal Shelter. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, camping, and he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, especially during the holidays. He enjoyed helping raise his special granddaughter Aliannah Simmons.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Penny Deal Adkins of Red House; children Keith Adkins, II and wife Misty of Leon, Melissa Bird of Hurricane, Tonya Adkins of Buffalo, Austin Adkins and companion Michelle Pressler of South Charleston, Kati Adkins of Lincoln County, Jasmine Adkins of Hurricane, Zakayla Adkins of Winfield, Dakota Adkins of Red House, and Raychel Adkins of Red House. He was Pappy to 20 grandkids and 5 great grandkids. He is also survived by a host of other family and friends.
A tribute to the life of Keith was held Friday July12, 2024 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

ANN FRANCES DODRILL
Ann Frances Dodrill, 64, of Teays Valley, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston.
Ann was born to Gretna Burns Michels on December 30, 1959 in Charleston.
She was a beach lover who volunteered and supported humane societies across the country and was an excellent artist. She was a child at heart and loved to visit Disney.
Ann is survived by her mother, Gretna Michels; husband: Dennis R. Dodrill; sons: Brandon Dodrill and Dylan (Makenzie) Dodrill; granddaughter: Myla Dodrill; and her Pomeranian, Lulu.
Funeral service for Ann will be 2:00pm Friday July 19, 2024 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane.

ANNABEL FORTH
Annabel Skaggs Forth, 101, of Fairmont and formerly of Hurricane, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones after a short illness. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a foster parent to nearly 100 children over her lifetime. She lived in Hurricane for nearly 60 years and a former member of the Hurricane First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her Parents Lawrence and Elsie Skaggs and Husband, Leo Roy Forth and she was the last of all her brothers and sister.
She is survived by sons Charles (Natalie) Forth of North Port Florida, Richard Forth of Decatur Texas, Michael Forth of Georga, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral service was Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Losh officiating. Burial was in Forest Memorial Park.

KARLA FULKS
Karla Lynn Fulks, 58, of St. Albans, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, in Cabell Huntington Hospital.
She was a graduate of Hurricane High class of 1983. She is survived by her sister Rebecca Chapman of Charleston, brother Doug Pate of St. Albans; nieces, Allyson Chapman, Hailey Chapman, Cheyenne Pate and Nephew Gabe Chapman, Great Nieces Deliliah Chapman and Raelyn Johnson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bethany Baptist Church in St. Albans at 5:30. P.m. on July 27, 2024.

Nancy L Jordan
Nancy L. Jordan, 79, of Mason, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at her home. She was a 1963 graduate of Buffalo High School. She always appreciated meeting for lunch with her high school class and enjoyed staying in touch with her classmates. She retired from the Putnam County Clerk’s office.
Born April 5, 1945, she was the daughter of the late William E. Jordan and Nora Mash Jordan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Jordan, Bob Jordan, Francis Jordan and Johnny Jordan.
Survivors include her daughter, Melissa Knapp of Mason; son, David (Jamie) Knapp of Letart; sister, Linda (Tim) Rectenwald of Manning SC; brother Mike Jordan of Big Bend WV; grandchildren, Rachel Shannon (Torrey Clark), Kristin (Brian) Shaffer, Erika (Chris) Cook and Buck (Jenny) Knapp; great grandchildren, Anna, Aidan, Austin, Ryan, Raegan, Jamielynn, Rocker, Rolland, Nora and Kali. Nancy is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and especially the class of 1963.
Funeral service was Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with Rev. Rex Young officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Memorial Park, Buffalo.

Marian Lee Randolph
Marian Lee Randolph, 75, of Buffalo, passed away July 12, 2024.
She was born January 21, 1949 to the late Ralph D. and Virginia Terry in Winfield. She spent her life in Putnam County where she retired from Putnam County Schools. She was also a long time employee of Payne’s Produce in her hometown of Winfield.
Surviving Marian is her loving husband, William S. “Stanley” Randolph; son, Chris (Joy) Randolph; sisters Verna “Lucy” Hartley of Winfield, Ruby Hayes of Pliny, Grace Terry of Winfield, Elva “Sis” Terry of Poca, and Hazel (Macky) Smith of Teays Valley; brother, Robert “Bob” Terry of Winfield; along with a host of other family and friends.
She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Funeral service for Marian was Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, at Chapman Funeral Home, Winfield.

Stephen ‘Steve’ Rappold
Stephen Boyd Rappold passed away in his home in Hurricane on Monday, July 9, 2024. Stephen Rappold was born December 23, 1947 in Milton to Donald Rappold and Billie White Rappold. He graduated from Hurricane High School in 1965. After graduating from the
Huntington Barber College he became the 3rd generation of Rappolds to cut hair in Hurricane. In 1970 he married his high school sweetheart, Loraine Slater. Their son Roderick was born in 1971 and daughter Stephanie in 1977. Steve retired from cutting hair after 50 years and one day. Steve was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. He led singing and was an Elder for several years at the Main Street congregation in Hurricane. Stephen Rappold is survived by his wife of 54 years Loraine; son Roderick and wife Tiffany; daughter Stephanie Brown and husband Michael; and two grandsons, Jaxson Rappold and Jace Rappold. He is also survived by his sister, Deborah Stricklin and husband Ray, and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Main Street Church of Christ, conducted by Whitney Strickland. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park.

Gregory Allen Ray
Gregory Allen Ray, 55, of Hurricane, passed away suddenly July 10, 2024 surrounded by family.
He was born September 26, 1968 in Owosso, Michigan.
Greg was a Hurricane High School graduate, class of 1987, a delivery truck driver, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He loved God and had read his bible three times while awaiting disability. He had a great sense of humor, loved making people laugh and always saw the good in everyone. Greg was a true patriot and was looking forward to making America great again. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved watching the WV Mountaineers and the Dallas Cowboys.
Greg is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Marcel and Freda Gibson; stepfather, Paul Cullum; aunt, Tamara Gibson; cousin, Kristi Van Buren; and brother in law, Brian Lane.
Greg is survived by his mother Linda Cullum; sister, Patricia Lane; aunts: Marcia Edwards and Rhonda Canterbury (Robert); cousins: Eric Canterbury (Carolynne), Noah, Serena, Natasha Fuller (Toma), Luna, Eliza Lane Canterbury (Raven), Kaylyn Goff and April Canterbury; stepmother, Sheila Ray; furbabies: Buddy and Deuce; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral service for Greg was Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor Mark Kilburn officiating.Entombment was in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane.

Russell Lee Smith
Russell Lee Smith, 87, of Leon, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Celebration Villas following a short illness. He was a 1955 graduate of Pt. Pleasant High School. After graduation from high school, he taught school in a one room school house. Russell and Peggy resided in Columbus OH for over 40 years and he was a fan of Ohio State football. Russell retired from Buckeye Steel Casting Company with over 40 years of service. He was a member of Fairwood Baptist Church in Columbus OH and attended Leon Baptist Church.
Born February 7, 1937, he was the son of the late Addie Smith and Faye Stover Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Anna Ruth “Peggy” Smith; brother, Paul Smith and grandson, Nathan Peselnick.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeannie (Daniel) Tien of Calabash NC and son, Jeffrey L. Smith of Grove City OH; granddaughter, Carly (Nate) McCarter of Lincoln England; sister, Barbara (Ron) Leddy of Ashland OH. Russell is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral service was Friday, July 12, 2024 at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with Pastor Fred Sparks officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Given.

Tommy R. Stover
Tommy R Stover, 71, of Buffalo, passed away Saturday, July 6th at St Mary’s Medical Center after a brief illness.
Tom was previously a member of Kanawha Valley Lodge 36 AF & AM and was currently a member of Putnam Lodge 139 AF & AM. He attended Otter Branch Community Church and Lone Oak Community Church. Tom had worked at Teague & Sons, Union Carbide, Aventis and Rhone Poulenc, Bayer Crop Science. He was a 1972 graduate of Buffalo High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard (Tom) and Martha Stover, sister Sandra Stover-Jones.
He is survived by wife Karen (Martin) Stover and son Joseph (Kyndra) and 4 grandchildren, Hunter, Alexa, Malea, & Jaxtyn. He is also survived by brother, Gary Stover, sisters, Dola Stover Hill and Marcie Stover-Jividen, and brother-in-law Larry Jones.
Additionally, Tom is survived by a large extended family of Stover’s and Martin’s, and a host of friends, all of whom will deeply miss him.
As per Tom’s wishes, there are to be no services held at this time and he has requested to be cremated.

Nellie Yvonne Terry
Nellie Yvonne Terry, 88, of Winfield, passed away July 13, 2024 at CAMC Memorial Hospice with her loving family by her side.
Throughout her life, Nellie was many things. In her young days she was a stunt car driver. As she grew older she was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and was a lifelong member of Kings Way Christian Church.
Nellie loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, flowers, cooking and going to church.
Nellie loved her family and friends very much. She was born April 16, 1936 to the late Deward Eugene and Frances Elizabeth Taylor Bird.
Preceding her in death is her loving husband Bernard Ray Terry; and her sister, Norma Stewart.
Survivors include her loving children: Marsha King (Joey) and Anna Cole (Kerry); sisters: Janet Racer and Kay Walker; grandchildren: Jordan Tyson (Matt), Bailey King (Bryan Swauger), Emily Flynn (Eli), Samantha Lancaster (Hayden) and Brett King; great grandchildren: Brooklynn Tyson, Cole Tyson, an Tatum Lancaster; and caregivers, Susan and Karen.
A funeral service for Nellie will be 11:00am on Monday, July 22, 2024 at Chapman Funeral Home in Hurricane with Pastor Gene Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.

James Tolley
James M. Tolley, age 83, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Born and raised in Dunbar, James graduated from Dunbar High School but spent most of his life in Hurricane where he was very active in the community. As a member of the Jaycees, he planned and organized the largest Christmas parade in Hurricane’s history. James was also a Past Master of the Putnam Masonic Lodge #139 and a member of Charleston’s Shrine, supporting Shriners Hospitals for Children. He retired from ACF Industries and spent his final years in Boynton Beach, FL.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Otis S. Tolley and Zelma M. Withrow, his sister Shirley J. Ranson (Harold surviving) and niece M. Lynn Ranson. He is survived by his wife, Nancy M. Hodges Tolley, his sons, Brad (Aaron) and Jeff (Debbie) and his beloved grandchildren, Jessica and Madison Tolley. He also leaves behind his nieces, Tracy (Mark) Mangano and Lesa (Jim) Jones.
In accordance with his wishes, a graveside service for immediate family was held.

Bernard Lyle Turley
Bernard L. Turley Sr., 95, of Winfield, devoted husband of Anna Faye (McClure) Turley, passed away July 11, 2024.
He was born September 30, 1928 to the late Hoyt B. Turley & Curtie May (Ball) Turley.
Bernard was a 1946 graduate of Nitro High School. After high school he served in the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division. He was a Korean War Veteran, where he received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart during his tour.
Throughout life Bernard had many jobs starting with Monsanto and ending his career with Vimasco Corp. He was a member of the John E. Marshall Post 187 American Legion, and a former member of Sleepy Hollow Golf Club. After retirement his hobbies included woodworking and building golf clubs.
Bernard is survived by his daughter, Gale C. Turley; son, Bernard L. Turley Jr.; brother, Bertram E. Turley (Londa); and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Funeral Service was Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Chapman Funeral Home, Winfield, with Pastor Mark Toole officiating. Burial with Military Honors was Monday, July 15, 2024 at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Pastor HB White, Jr.
Pastor Harold “HB” White, Jr., 87, of Nitro, left to be with his Heavenly Father on the afternoon of July 8th surrounded at home by his loving family.
He was born to the late Virginia Bostic White and Harold B. White Sr. in 1937 in Charleston, West Virginia. Pastor White was a graduate of Nitro High School where he met the love of his life Doris Jaqueline Morgan and remained married for 68 years. He then joined the United States Marine Corps in October of 1956 where he served his Country for four years. Upon his return he became an ordained minister and began working for Union Carbide at Institute for thirty years. He ministered at numerous churches throughout his career of over sixty years and made many lifelong friends along the way. He considered his service to God as his greatest accomplishment. He exemplified a life dedicated to God, family and Country.
He is survived by his wife Jaci and four children; Tracy, Troy(Beth), Todd(Cathy) and Trina(David). Also surviving are his siblings; Clifford White, Wanda Price, Sue Meadows, Ed White, Patricia Johnson and Betty Slack. He was proceeded in death by an infant daughter, brother William Bostic and Stepmother Kathleen White. He also left fourteen Grandchildren, thirty-eight Great Grandchildren and Three Great Great Grandchildren. He will also be missed by many other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Poca Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Tom Moore on August 4th at 1:00.
