The Putnam County Board of Education approved a new school bond of just under $50 million at its meeting on Monday, August 5.
The bond would allow for athletic upgrades at four high schools and three middle schools and provide for prtial funding of a new Hurricane Middle School. The SBA will be asked to approve $25 million toward construction of the new school.
County voters must approve the bond in the November general election. Putnam taxpayers just finished paying for the school bond which was approved in 2009 to construct Winfield and Poca Middle Schools.
The new bond is slightly less than the 2009 school bond.
