GREGORY BAYS
Greg Bays, 66, of Culloden, gained his angel wings July 29, 2024 after a long battle with cancer at his home surrounded by his family.
Graduate of Hurricane High School class of 1976 and a U.S. Navy Veteran, he spent many years as a Farm Manager on the Walker Farm. He loved his cars, and the outdoors but most of all his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kelson and Erma Bays brother Steve Bays.
He is survived by daughter, Natasha Dillon of Culloden (Derrick), Katie Hicks of Hurricane (Joseph), Grandchildren Amya, Alexis, Summer, Wyatt, Kensley, Brother Tim Bays of Delano CA. Sister Vennesa Chatterson St. Albans. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Friday, August 2, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Losh officiating. Burial was in Donel C Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery.

JOHN ROGER DAVIS, JR.
John Roger Davis, Jr., 63, of Poca, went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2024, in CAMC Memorial Division.
He was born June 21, 1961, in Charleston to the late John and Georgia Davis. John is retired from the Army Corp of Engineers in Winfield, former treasurer for the American Federation of Government Employees, and a member of Higher Ground Christian Fellowship in St. Albans. He loved everything about a motorcycle and was the former president of ABATE.
He is survived by his five children, Matt Davis, Ricky Davis, Christa Cogar, Brandi Tucker, and Ashley Hunt; sister Debbie Barnett; and nine grandchildren Jackson, Logan, Urijah, Marlee, Abigail, Aubree, Gavin, Connor, and Emma.
A tribute to the life of John was held Friday, August 2, 2024, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors David Bragg and Kevin Farmer officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

ANDREW ‘JACK’ ERWIN
Andrew “Jack” Erwin, 66, of Midway, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024 at his home following a short illness. He was a 1976 graduate of Buffalo High School and a graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology. He retired from Putnam County Schools where he spent many years as a teacher. He taught in a prevocational program in Putnam County and he enjoyed his time working with special needs students. Jack loved the sport of football and spent many years as a football coach. His coaching career included: Gibbs High School in St Petersburg FL, Hurricane High School, Winfield High School and West Virginia Tech. He loved wood working and cooking. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Born December 29, 1957 he was the son of the late Andrew J. Erwin and Lois Allen Erwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Charles C. Beckett.
Survivors include his daughter, Cassandra “Cassy” Erwin of Red House; son, Charles Andrew Erwin of Buffalo; brother, Harold (Linda) Erwin of Eleanor; sister, Arzie (Jim) Yoak of Eleanor; his friend and “brother from a different mother,” Bob Gobel. Jack is also survived by his best friend and companion, his dog “Molly”.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests to bring a covered dish and celebrate Jack’s life with them. The gathering of family and friends will take place from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the gymnasium at the First Baptist Church of Eleanor.

LOIS IRENE GIBSON
Lois Irene Gibson, 87, of Point Pleasant, passed away July 31, 2024.
Lois is a homemaker and a graduate of Poca High School.
She is preceded in death by her parents Elmer Earl and Macil Thomas Hawley and her brothers Earl, Keith, and Albert Hawley.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Luther “Hoot” Gibson, Jr.; sons Michael E. Gibson and Gregory S. (Darlene) Gibson; sister Betty (Tommy) Miller; grandchildren Meghan Hudson, Ashlee (Rick) Davis, Michelle (Harrison) Roach, and Ryan (Jessi) Gibson; and four great grandchildren Blake Hudson, Wyatt Gibson, Riley Gibson, and Forrest Roach.
Service and burial were at Paradise Cemetery, Liberty.

RONNIE HAINOR
Ronnie Hainor, 78, of Winfield, formerly of Chapmanville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 28, 2024, leaving from CAMC Select Specialty Hospital in Charleston.
He was born November 22, 1945, at Madison, WV, a son of the late Siegel Miness Hainor and Violet Workman Hainor.
Ronnie was a longtime salesman in the coal industry, which gave him the exceptional ability to connect with people. He never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone he encountered. He lived his life as a devoted Christian and was a member of the Manila Church of Christ. An avid outdoorsman, Ronnie loved hunting and fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy Hainor; one daughter, Cathy (Jeff) Schoolcraft of Winfield, WV; one son, Ronnie (Ladawna) Hainor of Hickory, NC; his grandchildren, Cole (Alex) Schoolcraft, Cartney Schoolcraft, Matt Hainor, and Sophia Hainor; three sisters, Peggy Seafler, Susie Turk, and Carol Summers; and one brother, Lewis (Renee) Hainor. Additionally, Ronnie leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral service was Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville with Mel Gresham officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

John Hannah
John Parcel Hannah, 92, of Scott Depot, passed away July 29, 2024. John was born April 23, 1932, in Logan to the late James and Rebecca Elkins Hannah.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marietta L. Hannah, brothers, Arnold Hannah, Bill Hannah and Glen Kincaid, sisters, Elizabeth Kincaid, Virginia Covey and Helen Moore. He is survived by sister-in-law Fern Kincaid.
Funeral service was August 1, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Hager officiating. Internment was in Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Huntington.

Brenda Jo Mallett
Brenda J. Mallett, 74, of Buffalo, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Hubbard Hospice House West, at Thomas Memorial Hospital following a short illness. She was a graduate of Nitro High School and attended Elizabeth Baptist Church. Brenda loved to spend time knitting and sewing.
Born July 26, 1950, she was the daughter of the late John W. Arthur and Wanda J. Hawley Arthur. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Michael Arthur.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Carroll “Shang” Mallett; sons, Andrew B. Mallett of Buffalo and Adam L. (Amy) Mallett of Lima OH; brother, Brian (Shelly) Arthur of NC; sisters, Deborah Perry of NC and Patty Poage of NC; grandchildren, Wyatt L. Mallett and Matthew L. Mallett. Brenda is also survived by several extended family members.
Funeral service was Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Raynes Funeral Home, Eleanor, with Brian Arthur officiating. Entombment was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

Bryan Miller
(September 23, 1967 – August 1, 2024)
Bryan Howard Miller, age 56, lost his battle to cancer but, as said in one of his favorite songs by Tom Petty, he “went down swinging.” A son, husband, father, brother, uncle and cat-dad, he was a very hard-worker who was dedicated to his family with a keen interest in military history and a variety of sports.
He is preceded in death by his father Art Miller, his grandmother Alice Schang, and his granny-in-law Dolores Holstein who was a guiding light of Jesus for him and so many others. He leaves behind his mother Charlice Stewart and stepfather Tim Stewart, his wife Angela Miller, his daughter Laura Miller and his son-in-law Duane Wolford, two step-grandsons Rylan and Miles Wolford, mother-in-law Teresa Eskins and aunt-in-law Patricia Eskins, several aunts and uncles among the closest being aunt Pat and uncle Dave Drzewiecki, brother Michael Miller (Whitney Miller), brother-in-law Ricky Toler (Denise Toler), sister-in-law Lisa Parsons (Richard Parsons), and countless nieces and nephews, among the closest being Dakota Moses who shared his interest in sports, and his 13 cats, including his closest fur-babies Katie Bell and Climber (an angel sent from God).
He was incredibly loved and will be greatly missed.

William Fred Mobley
William Fred Mobley, 65, of Winfield, passed away July 30, 2024, at home.
William was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish.
He is preceded in death by his parents Junior and Ruth Mobley, and two sisters Libby and Norma Mobley.
He is survived by his wife, Francis Elaine Anderson; special son Alex Mobley; sister Phyllis Mobley; brother Roger Mobley; and nephew Shawn Mobley.
At his request there will be no services.

Willis Lee Williams
Willis Lee Williams, 90, of Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at CAMC Memorial following a short illness. He was a retired from the Boilermakers Local 667. He had a great love of farming and was always ready to help his family, friends and neighbors. Willis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
Born July 9, 1934, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Virgil and Donna Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Megan Lee Mobley and Nola Elizabeth Reeves; sisters, Wanda Stone and Wilda Harmon; brother, Wendell Williams.
Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Phyllis Jean Williams; son, Joseph Williams; daughters, Regina Mobley, Fonda Williams and Tammie (Gary) Altenburger; brother, Ray Williams; sister, Wilma Short; grandchildren, Zack (Brooke) Simpson, Katie Mobley, Erin (Chris) Cobb and Marshal Hardwick; great grandchildren, Christopher Williams, Grayson Simpson, Raygan Simpson, Waylon Loyd, Sawyer Cobb and Marley Cobb.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services.
