‘Rally In The Valley’ Returns to Hurricane

Athletes attempt to maintain a mouthful of water while completing farmer carries.

This year’s Rally in the Valley brought 90 athletes from 24 states and three countries to Hurricane for three days of hybrid fitness competition on August 2-4.

These athletes competed in trail running, weight lifting, CrossFit styled workouts and more. In Friday Night Light competition at the soccer field at Valley Park, athletes were challenged to maintain a mouthful of water while completing timed farmer carries in an event termed “liquid death.” On Saturday, Action shifted to Meeks Mountain Trails where upon completing an 8 mile trail run, athletes were given 3 minutes to row 50 calories and complete as many 100 lbs. sandbag over the shoulder movements as possible. In the afternoon, it was back to Valley Park for more tests of fitness and stamina. On Saturday evening fitness competition moved to Shotfire Fitness on Midland Trail.

Sunday morning made for a wet experience at the YMCA pool. At noon, the top performers returned to Meeks Mountain Trails for the finale. Champions were crowned Sunday afternoon at Valley Park.
