Community Calendar for Week of August 15

NOW – OCTOBER

  • The Putnam County Farmers Market will be held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field next to Exxon on Route 34, Teays Valley.
  • The Country Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

NOW – AUGUST 18

  • The Bridge Church, 279 Dairy Road, Poca, will be offering hot meals, food pantry boxes, and a clothing closet from 5 to 8 p.m.
  • There will be a teen/adult lyrical and jazz drop in class at the Macholah Ballet, 6422 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot. The cost is $12 at the door.

  • The Nitro Catfish Tournament will be held from 4:30 to 11 p.m. at Ridenour Lake, 534 Ridenour Lake, Nitro. The cost will be $15 per person.
  • There will be a ribbon cutting for Lulabelle’s Boutique and Beauty Bar, 165 Main Street, Poca, at 10:30 a.m.
  • The Bridge Church, 279 Dairy Road, Poca, will be holding a worship night starting at 7 p.m.
  • The Buffalo United Methodist Church, 27 High Street, Buffalo, will be holding their Back to School Bash starting at 6 p.m.
  • Scott Honaker will be performing at 8 p.m. at Brookse’s Bar and Grill, 13184 Winfield Road, Winfield.
  • Bancroft Mission will be holding an evening of praise starting at 7 p.m. at Bancroft Community Park.
  • One Life Church, 318 Thompson Road, Culloden, will be holding a Back to School event featuring B-Shoc, an upbeat Christian artist, starting at 6:30 p.m.

  • Learn about fall bee management and bee environment at 10 a.m. at West Sattes Community Center, 234 Lee Avenue, Nitro.
  • The Nitro First Presbyterian Church, 111 21st Street, Nitro, will be holding a rummage and hot dog sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Hopewell Community Services will be holding their 8th birhtday celebration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ridenour Lake in Nitro. Live music, corn hole, fishing, hiking, kayaking, paddle boating, and more.
  • The Poca Show Choir Boosters will be holding designer purse bingo starting at 4:30 p.m. at Poca High School. Tickets are $30 at the door.
  • Local author Laura Boggess will be at Bake My Day, 14 Bank Street, Nitro, from 6 to 9 p.m.
