DONALD (PAT) ADKINS
Donald (Pat) Adkins, 70, of Ona, passed away on August 13, 2024.
He was born on June 10, 1954 to the late James Edward and Loreda Loftis Adkins in South Charleston. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters: Carolyn S. McCallister and Rebecca L. Stowers; brothers: Jonathan E Adkins, and Gary Adkins.
Pat was a 1972 graduate of Hurricane High School, where he played football and baseball. After graduation he joined the US Navy, serving in Vietnam obtaining the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. He retired from USPS as a proud Postal Worker union member.
Pat is survived by his brothers: Mike (Cindy) Adkins of Charleston, and David (Jheng) Painter of Metro Manila of The Philippines; niece and nephews: Chris Painter, Jonathan Adkins, Dusty Stowers, Mike Adkins, Chuck Adkins, Greg Adkins, and Marleigh Adkins.
It was Pat’s request there be no services.

HAROLD LEE ASH
Harold Lee Ash, 93, of Scott Depot, passed away peacefully August 14, 2024. The son of the late Hobart and Hazel Ash, he was born November 18, 1930, in Mammoth, West Virginia. He was also predeceased by his stepdaughter, Terry Lynn Young; brother, Hobert Don; and sisters: Evelyn and Shirley Ann.
He graduated in 1949 from East Bank High School, where he lettered in football and was captain of the championship baseball team.
Harold is survived by his devoted wife, Georgiann, whom he wed December 26, 1976; son, Harold Steven and his wife, Carlotta, of Beavercreek, Ohio; daughter, Diana Lee Martinelli and her husband, David, of Morgantown; stepson, William Douglas Currence of Rincon, Georgia; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was a supervisor at Union Carbide/Rhone Poulenc, where he worked for 38 years. Known for his quick wit, easy smile and ready laughter, Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending WVU football games in his younger years.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

KIRSTEN MARIE COURTNEY
Kirsten Marie Courtney, 57, of Poca, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 17, 2024.
Kirsten was a homemaker and proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy and carried that patriotism throughout her life. She was a faithful member of Poca United Methodist Church where she loved her church family and loved serving with the food pantry. She enjoyed cooking and helping others.
She is preceded in death by her son Alex Knoll; father Monte Ramey; and her G.G. Jeanette Reed.
Kirsten is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Eric Courtney; mother Judy Lerstang (Marty); two children Aaron and wife Samantha Knoll and Emma Courtney; brother Brian Ramey; and her pride and joy, her granddaughter Savannah. She is also survived by her loving church family, family and friends.
A tribute to the life of Kirsten Courtney was held Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Mason officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

NANCY IRENE FACEMYRE
Nancy Irene Facemyre, 67, of Hurricane, went home to her Heavenly Father on August 17, 2024.
Nancy was born May 27, 1957 to the late Isabella and John Spencer in Charleston. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa; son, Michael; sisters: Barbara Clay and Patricia Pauley; and brothers: Jack Spencer and Roger Spencer.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, James of Scott Depot; daughter, Samantha Singer (Ashton) of Saint Albans; son, Jonathan of Scott Depot; brother, John (Mary) Spencer Jr. of Hurricane; sister, Penny Armstead of Nitro; grandchildren: Isaiah and Mariah Facemyre of Saint Albans, as well as a host of family and friends who will cherish her memories.
Nancy was previously employed at Heck’s retail store and the cashier’s office at Stone & Thomas. She later became a home maker, a loving dedicated wife and mother to her children. She enjoyed the sunshine, watching birds, collecting Coca Cola ornaments and spending time with her family.
Funeral Service for Nancy was Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Rev. Dr. John Smith officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

Bobby ‘Tony’ Ginn
Bobby Sylvester “Tony” Ginn Sr., 84, of Culloden, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Tony was the son of the late Clarence and Hester Ginn of Lincoln County.
Tony retired as Superintendent of Big Talley Coal Company and was a member of l.U.O.E local 132. He loved music, loved playing the organ and his electric guitar.
He was preceded in death by his wife Leila Guthrie Ginn, daughter Denise Ann, two sons Bryan and Bob, a second wife Karon Ginn, two brothers Jack Ginn and Johnny Ginn, two sisters Audrey Harden and Betty Stowers.
Tony is survived by his son Bill (Yvonne) Ginn of Hurricane, four grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, sister Phyllis Bush, brothers Marshall (Brenda) Ginn, Mike (Debbie) Ginn and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Ginn officiating. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park.

Richard G. Gush
Richard Gush 45, of Hurricane, passed away in his home with his beloved wife, Summer, by his side on July 31, 2024 after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer.
All who knew Richard were blessed to have experienced his love for life, his kind and giving heart, and amazing soul. Richard and Summer spent the last 23 years of their lives island-hopping, traveling the world together, spoiling their beloved Dood Crew, and spending time with their friends and family.
Richard was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his beautiful mother: Betty Gush; father-in-law: Jackie Hartman; and nephew: Thomas Scott Bourne.
Richard is survived by his wife, Summer Gush; father, John Gush; brother, John Gush (Jennie); sister, Vicki White (Tom); along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews that love and miss Richard deeply.
Over the last seven years, Richard never lost his faith in God. Richard continued to live his life to the fullest, regardless of the challenges he endured.
Per Richard’s request, there will be no public service. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

James ‘Jimbo’ Kimberling
James Abner “Jimbo” Kimberling, Jr., 62, of Midway, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was a 1981 graduate of Sissonville High School and was a member of the Ironworker’s Union. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Jimbo enjoyed horses and would participate in western style horse shows.
Born April 4, 1962 he was the son of the late James A. “Skeeter” Kimberling and Carolyn L. Kimberling.
Survivors include his daughter Sasha (Curtis) Hanshaw of Sissonville; sister, Vicki (Joseph) Carpenter of Winfield; brother Bill (Donna) Kimberling of Midway; grandchildren, Maci, Abbi and Cami.
In accordance with his wishes there will be no formal services. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Wayne ‘Flap’ Landers
Wayne “Flap” Landers, 79, of Poca, went home to be with The Lord on August 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born to the late Clifford and Maxine Higginbotham Landers on January 30, 1945, in Putnam County. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby, Larry; sisters, Sue Luikart and Songia Taylor.
Flap was saved on March 7, 2012, and made Heaven his home. He attended Bancroft Church of God Mission. Flap was a graduate of Poca High School. He was a carpenter out of Local 1207 and he also worked for Viscos and South Charleston Stamping Plant. Flap was an avid hunter. He loved and knew everything about firearms. More important than any of this he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He truly loved everyone, and everyone loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta “Toonie” Landers of 59 years; sons, Michael (Annie) of Fisherville, KY, Jody of Poca, Kevin (Amy) of Eleanor; grandchildren, Brandon (Elise), Trevor, Jordyn (Hank), Noah, Seth, Abigail and Sarah; brother, Roger (Linda); brothers in law John Taylor, and Denver Luikart; sisters in laws, Virginia Landers and Freda Landers and a great granddaughter due in December.
Funeral service was Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Bancroft Church of God Mission with Michael Landers, Randy Browning and Frank Allen, Jr. officiating. Entombment was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House.

Natella Miller
Natella Gay Miller, 83, of Ona, formerly of Hurricane, departed this life on August 13, 2024, with her children by her side, after a long battle with kidney disease.
She was a lifelong member of Laywell Church of Christ. She retired from George’s Dry Cleaners to run Walter’s Garage Door alongside her husband, Walter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Dosha Helen Arbaugh, and her husband of 30 years, Walter Miller.
Surviving are her children, Jason (Cathy) Miller of Hurricane and Susan (Jack) Runion of Ona with whom she made her home for the last four and a half years. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and sister, Evelyn (Charles) Bradley.
Funeral service was Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Nicely officiating. Burial was in Forest Memorial Park in Milton.

Dana Kent Sigman
Dana Kent Sigman, 68, of Liberty, passed away August 11th at his mother’s home after a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his father Mayford Lee Sigman, grandparents Ranson and Lottie Sigman of Liberty and Kenneth and Gatha Sayre of Liberty.
He is survived by his mother Betty P. Sigman of Liberty and sister Tamara L. Sigman of Nitro.
Dana was a 1974 graduate of Poca High School and attended West Virginia State College.
He worked for West Virginia Steel in Poca, Monsanto Chemical and Flexysys both in Nitro, and The Home Depot in Teays Valley. Dana was a certified welder and pipe fitter. He was a ham radio operator and enjoyed riding his John Deere Gator side by side at his home in Liberty.
A tribute to the life of Dana was held Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Center Point Cemetery. Burial was in the cemetery.

Phillip Wayne Thomas
Phillip Wayne Thomas, 54, of Red House, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024, after a sudden illness.
He is preceded in death by his father Phillip Thomas Sr; grandparents George and Lou Vergie Rowlands, Joseph and Louise Sigmon, and his mentor and chosen family buddy Charles Parsons.
Wayne is survived by his mother Judy Thomas of Milton, aunt Kathy Sigmon of Cross Lanes, his chosen family Mary Parsons of Red House, Bobbie & Mike Jordan of Red House, James (Amanda) Parsons of Charleston, and his entire cousin crew from Tango Road, Lincoln County.
Wayne enjoyed comics from the newspaper, old cars, Mad magazines, good food, lots of ice cream, and any kind of jokes that he knew would make people laugh. He took pride in his job at Pilot in Nitro where he worked for over 25 years and won many awards for his hard work and dedication. He loved the staff and considered them friends and family.
He was one of the best-hearted people you could ever meet. He was one of a kind and unique in his own way. They’ll never be another person like him.
