JUANITA MAE CREECH
Juanita Mae Creech, 89, of Teays Valley, went Home to be with the Lord on August 2, 2024. She was a member of Teays Valley Church of God.
She was born August 3, 1934 in Given to the late Mary F. Casto Kessel and Hansel “Hank” Kessel. Juanita grew up in the country and was known to ride her horse to school. Later in life she moved to Dunbar and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1953. She went on to attend and graduate from Charleston Business College and with those skills she was hired as a Secretary/Clerk for Union Carbide. At another point in her career, she was a Nutritionist Instructor for the State of West Virginia. Later in her life, she was a Sales Representative for Nutro Pet Products.
On December 3, 1955, Juanita married the love of her life, the late William ‘Bill” D. Creech. And in 1964 she became a homemaker and mother to their surviving daughter, Teresa A. Creech. In those years she worked side by side with Bill at his shop, Horseman’s Supply and could always be found at area horse shows helping Bill sell horse tack and supplies and supporting Teresa with her love of horses.
Juanita was known for her vibrant outgoing personality. She had a deep love for people, gardening, canning, traveling, cooking, dancing, horse shows, her grand dogs, attending community senior centers, and being a member of several organizations such as Woods & Irons Garden Club, KVHA, Putnam County Republican Club, Bunko, KWHA and Gable Gals of Teays Valley.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, William ‘Bill” D. Creech; sisters: Willa D. Davis, Wanda L. Basham and Anna D. Cunningham.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Teresa A. Creech of Teays Valley; sister, Sherry Kessel of Scott Depot; and special friends: David and Susan Frampton, Drema Davis, Sara Kell and Lori Kaeberle.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Juanita’s Life, 7:00 pm, Friday, September 6, 2024 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Rev. Dr. Melissa Pratt and Rev. David Bowen officiating.

JESSIE ‘JOE’ FLANERY
Jessie Calvin “Joe” Flanery rode off into the sunset one final time at the age 86 on August 28, 2024, in Hurricane. Born on November 13, 1937, in Martin, KY, Joe lived a life dedicated to his family. Joe also had four years of commendable Air Force Service and a distinguished career with C&P and AT&T.
Joe leaves behind his loving wife Barbara; sons Tim and his wife Katie; Tony and pets Reggie and Elly; Todd and his wife Sheri; daughter Mary and her husband Chris Sommerville; beautiful sisters, Doris, Nora, Flo, and loving brother, Bryan; eleven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
His family will hold dear the memory of his gentle spirit and fondly remember his dry, quick wit, an abounding love for cowboy westerns, deep interest in emerging technologies and a fresh cup of coffee.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Parley and Grace Flanery; his sisters Eunice “Sis” Hall, Emma “Goose’ Pigman, Mavis Blair, and brother Billy James Flanery.
In keeping with Joe’s private nature, a memorial service will be held for immediate family members.
We bid farewell to Joe, a man whose dry humor and steadfast presence enriched the lives of all he touched. His legacy is one of love, laughter, level walls, and unwavering commitment to his family.

DONNA KEELING
Donna Belle Keeling, 76, of Hurricane, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024.
Born July 5, 1948, to the late Eldon and Lena Mae Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jerry D. Keeling, brother, Kay Johnson, sisters, Linda Bays and Barbara Casey.
She is survived by her children Kenneth (Robin) Keeling, Lena (Dave) Salmons and Angela (Cynthia) Keeling, Her sister, Lora McKellar, Margie (Dennis) Hodges and Tresea Johnson, brother, Owen Johnson. Grandchildren, Gabe and Logan Keeling, Megan and Brooke Salmans, Griffen, Nathaniel and Camden Cutright, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends she loved very much.
Funeral service was Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Allen Funeral Home. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

CONNIE SUE LEWIS
Connie Sue Lewis, 63, of Winfield, passed away August 31, 2024, at home.
She was born August 15, 1961, in South Charleston, to the late Paul and Paula Roach.
Connie is a graduate of Winfield High School and retired from Rite Aid Warehouse.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dell “Dude” Lewis; son Jeremy and wife Lindsey Lewis of Winfield; daughter Megan and husband Jerod Cash of Winfield; grandchildren Austin Lewis, Addison Cash, and Raelyn Cash all of Winfield; sisters Kathy and husband Keith Young of Hardy, VA, Lisa Roach of Winfield, and Shelley and husband Stevie Short of Winfield; and her beloved dog Sadie. Connie is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Winfield Cemetery, Winfield.

Wilbur Locke
Wilbur M. Locke, 94, formerly of Hurricane, died Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, MD, where he had been a resident for the last five years.
Born November 26, 1929 at Shade Gap, PA, he was a son of the late Earl and Mabel (Fraker) Locke. He was united in marriage to the former Alma “Sis” Collins who preceded in death on May 9, 2015.
He is survived by three children, Paula Resh and husband Jay of Grantsville, MD, Daniel Locke and wife Katherine of Meyersville, MD and Carol “Susie” Locke of Hurricane. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Logan Locke and one sister, Cora Mae Plank.
Mr. Locke was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Hurricane. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and will be remembered as a real family man. Mr. Locke was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Army.
Funeral service was Monday, August 26, 2024 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, PA. Interment was in Locke’s Valley Cemetery, Shade Gap, PA.

William Millar
William Millar 77, of Hurricane, went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2024 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington.
At William’s request there will be no services.

Ann Marie Moore
Ann Marie (Barker) Moore, 69, of Winfield, passed suddenly into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 24, 2024 ending her long fight with Muscular Dystrophy.
Ann was born in Newtown, Pennsylvania, to the late Ada Marie (White) Barker and John Barker. She later moved to South Carolina, where she graduated from Anderson College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Education. Ann married her husband, David in 1983. They lived in Dayton, Ohio for 7 years, then Lilburn, GA for 21 years and for the last 11 years in Winfield.
Ann was a very warm and loving person who always had a smile for everyone. She loved her family and was a very caring, devoted mother and wife. Her daughter, Rebecca, was already waiting for her in Heaven when she arrived. Some of Ann’s finest moments were showing love and care to her daughter who died at age 5 of Cerebral Palsy. She was a devoted and loving mother to her two children: John and Carmen, who will grieve her passing. Ann was a very loving wife, a loyal companion and best friend to her husband, David, who will miss her smile and her love tremendously. She also leaves behind a brother, Sam Barker.
Ann was a member of Cross Lanes Baptist Church, where she was a leader of AWANA classes there and at previous churches for many years, she loved working with children. She also served in church bus ministries, special needs children’s classes, food pantries and as Sunday School teacher throughout her life. Over the past 10 years, she has shown tremendous courage, patience, and a joyful and content spirit as she struggled with declining strength because of muscular dystrophy. Her positive spirit, her love and care for others, even as she struggled with her own disabilities, was a model of grace to those around her.
Ann is now with her Lord who she served well and faithfully throughout her life.
Funeral Service for Ann was Friday August 30, 2024 at Cross Lanes Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Seth Polk officiating. Burial was in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens Cross Lanes.

Allen E. Reed
Allen Eugene Reed, 78, of Scott Depot, went Home to be with the Lord on August 30, 2024.
He was born to the late Ted M. and Margarette Wells Reed on January 18, 1946 in Charleston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: I.B. Reed: sister: Joyce Ann (Charlie) Sullivan; nephew: Randy L. Sullivan; and son in-law: John F. Turner.
Allen was an accountant with WV DMV. He enjoyed spending time at his family camp in Pocahontas County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters: Christine M. Turner of South Charleston, Nicole R. Reed of South Charleston, and Dionne L. (Steve) Lauritsen of Friendswood, TX; granddaughters: Jordyn L. (Adam Fridley) Reed of St. Albans, Alexis M. Lauritsen and Olivia R. Lauritsen both of Friendswood, TX; sister: Brenda K. (Bill) Wiggins of Snellville, GA; his best friend: Steve Stamper of Scott Depot, and many nieces and nephews, as well as other family members.
Visitation is from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane.
