This year’s two-day Putnam County Homecoming in Winfield on Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 8, will feature local entertainment and music. Saturday’s performances feature Brandon Tolliver, Cole Parsons, Jonah Cline, Lost Cause, and Appalachian Rain. Taking the stage on Sunday will be 4 the Gospel, the Appalachian Lasses, and the Music of Kenny and Julie.
Saturday’s events include a Putnam County History presentation by Joyce Hanna, CLz Finest Car Show, Joey Stepp’s Magic Show, and the introductions of Miss Putnam County candidates.
Both Saturday and Sunday will provide family fun delivered by a Petting Zoo, Inflatables, Face Painting, Putt Putt Golf, and a Car Smashing.
Sunday’s festivities begin at 10 a.m. with a Flag Raising Ceremony. There will be a community Church Service at 10:45. State Route 817 will be shutdown at 1:30 p.m. for the Grand Parade. Homecoming Awards are scheduled at 4:00 p.m. to be followed by the crowning of the 2024 Miss Putnam County.
The Putnam County Homecoming has been an annual event in Winfield since 1929 with the exception of the World War II years and 2020, the year of Covid. The selection of Miss Putnam County and the Grand Parade are continuing traditions which date back to the early years of the observance.
