Night Market’s Trick Is A Fright Market Treat

The Fright Market featured a costume contest for all ages.

The last Night Market of the season brought fun and fright to Valley Park on Thursday, October 24. Cars were lined up both ways on Teays Valley Road as people tried to enter the park for the seasonal vendor fair, which turned out to be the biggest one in the history of the event.

In addition to offering local vendors a space to sell their merchandise, the Fright Market featured special Halloween activities. Trick-or-treat stations were positioned at regular intervals around the back part of the upper parking lot near the baseball fields, and families formed long lines to receive candy and treats. There was a costume contest with multiple age divisions, carnival games, and a haunted house. The Ghostbusters car was on site, as well as representatives from the Haunted Majestic, a floating seasonal attraction on the Ohio River at Majestic Landing in Huntington. The featured musical act of the evening was Appalachian Lightning, a high energy cover band based out of Charleston.

While the October Fright Market wrapped up the year, the Night Market should return to Valley Park next spring for the 2025 season.

The staff of Teays Valley Pediatric Dentistry and friends dressed up as characters from “Toy Story” to give out treats to children.
Stand-alone doors were set up around the trick-or-treat trail to simulate the experience of going door to door for candy.
Josh and Emily Mays of Huntington and their dogs Guppy and Nessie were the winners of the Halloween Pet Costume Contest.
