Jeremy Young will be leaving his post as county manager of Putnam County on December 1st to become county manager of Kanawha County.

As Putnam county manager, Young oversaw an annual budget of $24 million. Kanawha’s budget for the current fiscal year is $60 million. The increase in responsibility of administering Kanawha’s larger budget will result in a significant salary increase for Young. As Kanawha county manager Young will receive $135,000 per year. As Putnam’s county manager, Young’s annual salary was in the $100,000 neighborhood.

Young has served as Putnam’s county manager since 2014. Assistant county manager Tim Hanna will assume Young’s duties on an interim basis. Hanna has been assistant county manager since 2017.

County commission president Andy Skidmore said that there is no plan to name a new county manager at this time.
