Hurricane Gazebo to Be Replaced

In response to the many individuals who were not happy with the City of Hurricane’s plan to raze the gazebo and remove the adjacent tree, Mayor Scott Edwards has announced new plans.
In a Facebook post, Edwards stated, “Since the gazebo is truly approaching the point to where it is not safe, it will be taken down. However, a new one will be rebuilt in the same location and will look very similar to what is there now. It will be built to last 50+ years (current one was built around 1986.

“While the tree does have issues and is near impossible at this point to trim to maintain shape (per the tree trimming companies that we’ve already dealt with in the past about it), we will leave it where it is right now. We will do our best to keep it looking nice until it is obvious that it has reached the end of its life.”

Edwards also posted that the city has plans to revitalizing the old fire department which includes creating a covered outdoor area with a stage and other spaces for public use.
