Last year, December 25th in Hurricane was a happy time because the Grinch was behind bars and not able to steal Christmas. That may not be the case this year. Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards issued the following notice on Monday, December 9:

“If you remember, this time last year I was chasing the Grinch throughout Hurricane. He evaded me during the parade, but we finally caught up with him hiding out in a house, placed him in cuffs with the help of Chief Mike Mullins — and off to jail he went!

“Bad news: Early this morning, the Grinch escaped from his jail cell. He has not been seen since. I ask each of you to keep your eyes open and protect your Christmas presents as I know what he is after. He wants to steal Christmas! I will do what I can to keep this from happening and to protect all the children’s presents. Keep your eyes out! As I know more, I’ll post.”
