BONNIE BEAVER
Bonnie Lou Grant Beaver was called home to the Lord while surrounded by family, November 30, 2024. She was born on August 13, 1941, to parents Violet Washington Grant and Arnold Grant of Putnam County.
As a child, Bonnie attended Adda Baptist Church where she came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was a 1959 graduate of Hurricane High School and served her community as an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hurricane through her work on various committees, Sunday School classes and outreach programs.
One of the greatest joys in her life was nurturing and educating children, both within her family and community. Ms. Bonnie touched the lives of countless students (and teachers) throughout her 10-year career and ministry as a Pre-School teacher at the First Baptist Academy in Hurricane.
Bonnie poured all of her efforts into her family throughout her life, serving others before herself. She enjoyed cooking for others, hosting family events “where cousins became friends”, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bonnie was a true servant, leader and disciple of Christ. She adored her husband, exhibiting true love and friendship over their 64 years of marriage. Her strength and courage were exhibited as she provided care for her husband while simultaneously waging her own battle against cancer. While taking visitors following her husband’s passing, she stated, “ I pray every night that I can live long enough to continue caring for him.”
She is survived by a sister, Sue Carroll (Gary); her children, Gerald Beaver Jr. (Hope), Kipp Beaver (Kim), and Stacey Smith (Scott); her grandchildren, Austin Beaver (Emily), Sawyer Smith (Emily), Skye Reymond (Brady), Melanie Edge (Trevor), and Megan Downing (James); and her great-grand-children, the light of her world, Maryn & Maddox Smith, Luke Downing, and Kinley & Sydney Reymond as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Beaver; her parents, Violet and Arnold Grant; brothers, Dale Grant, Don Grant, Denver Grant, Darrell Grant, Dawson Grant, and Denzil Grant; and sisters IvaDean Barnett and Kathaleen Erwin.
