Macholah Ballet Presents ‘The Nativity’

Angels dance to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

The Macholah Ballet shared their rendition of the Christmas story with the community this past weekend, bringing to life the biblical account of the birth of Jesus. The Teays Valley-based studio put on the twelfth annual production of “The Nativity” at Bridge Church in Scott Depot on Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14. This is a new location for “The Nativity,” which has been held at various churches throughout the local area.

Macholah Ballet’s Christmas production features the talents of high school aged, pre-professional level dancers who have trained and practiced for months to perform the feats of agility and athleticism required for such a performance. The “Nativity” depicts the journeys of Mary and Joseph, the birth of Jesus, angels appearing to the shepherds, and the gifts of the Wise Men, with each dance being set to popular Christmas songs and hymns.

A Christian dance studio, the Macholah Ballet shares the Gospel through dance. Their annual production of “The Nativity” is free to the public, the studio’s gift to the community.

The Macholah Ballet is located beside Save-A-Lot in Scott Depot. The studio offers classes in jazz, ballet, tap, and lyrical. It is also one of the few studios in the area which offers classes for adults.

Much of the Nativity ballet focuses upon the struggles of Mary, who faces scorn and little support during her pregnancy.
