Seniors Face Off in Putnam Aging Pool Tournament

Belford Jividen was one of 13 seniors to compete in the Putnam Aging Program quarterly pool tournament.

Putnam Aging Program held its quarterly Pool Tournament on Monday, December 30, at the Buffalo Senior Center. A total 13 participants from Putnam County Centers in Buffalo, Hometown, and Hurricane, and the Nitro Senior Center competed. The Center registering the most victories wins bragging rights and the honor of displaying the tournament trophy.

The Buffalo Center recorded 13 victories and will retain possession of the trophy for at least one more month. Hometown was credited with 5 wins and Hurricane with 3 wins. A single participant from the John Henson Senior Center produced all three Hurricane wins.
The next tournament is slated for February 7th. Putnam Aging also has tournaments planned for the first Friday of May, August and November in 2025.

While every tournament to date has been held at the Buffalo Center, the availability of the new pool table at the Hometown may allow the tournament to rotate between locations. Putnam Aging is entertaining the idea of holding tournaments at both locations, followed by a playoff in each quarter.

The John Henson Senior Center in Hurricane is not available for tournaments because it has only one pool table.
Seniors can practice their pool shooting skills every morning, Monday through Friday, at all three centers. Competition is for both men and women.
