Community Calendar for Week of January 30

SATURDAYS THROUGH FEBRUARY

  • There will be a free open gym for 1st – 5th graders every Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Zone Out Sports, located on Morris Court, just off Main Street in Hurricane.

JANUARY 30

  • A women’s exercise group will be meeting at 5:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Nitro, 2200 2nd Avenue, Nitro.

JANUARY 31

  • The Putnam County Chamber of Comerce Annual Dinner and Celebration will start at 6 p.m. at Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane. For more information, call (304) 757-6510.

  • The Sweetheart Market will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene, 3937 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
  • There will be a Galentines Party at 6 p.m. at Social Event Space, 2833 Main Street, Hurricane. Hang out with girlfriends, laugh, party, and shop.
  • The 2025 Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics will start at 3 p.m. at Hurricane City Park.

FEBRUARY 2 – 9

  • There will be a Goodwill Donation Drive Fundraiser at Valley Park in Hurricane to benefit the Putnam County Clover STEMs. The donation trailer will be unlocked from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • The Putnam County 4-H CloverSTEMS will be holding an afternoon of crafting starting at 3 p.m. at Teays Valley Church of God, 185 Connection Point, Scott Depot. The cost is $15 per participant.

FEBRUARY 4

  • Zoology Zone is coming to the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley at 4 p.m. with a presentation about bearded dragons.

FEBRUARY 6

  • The American Legion James E. Marshall Post 187 will have a Four Chaplains Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. at the Winfield Presbyterian Church on Ferry Street, Winfield.

FEBRUARY 7

  • For Such A Time As This: Lone Oak Church of God Mission, 1303 Mclane Pike, Red House, will be holding a women’s dinner starting at 6:30 p.m.
  • Night to Shine, a prom for people with special needs, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Bridge Church, 6496 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot.
  • The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be holding Business Before Business from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley. RSVP by calling 304-757-6510.

  • The Kanawha River Catfish Club will be meeting from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Eleanor Fire Department.
  • The Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, will be holding a food pantry from 9 a.m. to noon.
