Pictured are flood waters on Tacketts Branch on Thursday, February 6th. Tacketts Branch residents were among many county residents who were forced to remain in their homes or to take lengthy detours. Affected areas included Hurricane Creek Road, Peach Ridge Road, Route 34 South, Cow Creek Road, Harbour Lane, Manilla Creek Road, Sugar Camp Road, and Scary Creek Road.

Schools were first placed on a two hour delay and cancelled when the rains continued. Approximately 1.5 inches fell prior to midnight Wednesday and an additional 1.7 inches fell between 2 a.m. and dawn on Thursday.
