Community Calendar for Week of March 13

SATURDAYS THROUGH MARCH

  • There will be a free open gym for 1st – 5th graders every Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Zone Out Sports, located on Morris Court, just off Main Street in Hurricane.

THURSDAYS IN MARCH

  • March My Words: A Creative Writing Workshop will be held every Thursday in March from 10 a.m. to noon at the Poca Library.

MARCH 13 – 15

  • Buffalo Church of the Nazarene, 25053 Buffalo Road, will be holding Adult Vacation Bible School: Jeopardy! on Thursday and Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. and 2 – 4 p.m. on Saturday.

MARCH 15

  • There will be a gospel sing and jam session at 6 p.m. at Oma Chapel Church, 2116 Arbuckle Creek Road, Leon.
  • There will be a plant and propagation swap from 1 to 4 p.m. at Bake My Day, 14 Bank Street, Nitro.
  • There will be a Pay What You Can Gear Swap fundraiser for the Winfield Little League from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Winfield Little League Field.
  • Teays Valley Strings will be performing at 11 a.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.
  • The Putnam County Democratic Women’s Club will be holding their March lungeon at noon at the Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane. The cost is $22 per person. Email [email protected] or call (304)543-2115 to register.
  • The Kanawha River Ducks Unlimited Sportsmans Night Out will start at 5 p.m. at Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane. Raffles, games, silent auction and live auction. Tickets are $75 per person. For more information, call 304-610-1080.

  • The Bridge Church, 279 Dairy Road, Poca, will be holding a Night of Worship starting at 6 p.m.

  • There will be a sewing workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane.
  • The PIPESOUNDS Organ Concert Series is excited to announce Dave Wickerham performing at 3 p.m. at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. The theme is “Popular Hits of the 1950’s – 1980’s and more.” The cost is $15 per person; students get in for free.

  • Do You Carrot About Your Health: Learn about the health benefits, varieties, and ways to cook carrots at 11 a.m. at the Eleanor Library.
  • There will a Create Your Own Kite STEM event at 4 p.m. at the Eleanor Library.
  • The Townesmen will be performing at 6:45 p.m. at the Teays Valley Church of God, Connection Point, Scott Depot.
  • Sergio’s Cucina Italiana & Steaks will be holding Big Bang Theory trivia starting at 7 p.m.

MARCH 20

  • A ladies’ exercise group meets at 5:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Nitro, 2200 2nd Avenue, Nitro.

MARCH 21 – 22

  • There will be a barn quilt painting class from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Area 34, 971 West Virginia Route 34, Hurricane. Reservations needed a week in advance. Call 304-741-532 for more information.

    There will be an evening of praise and thanksgiving starting at 7 p.m. at Bancroft Mission, 5936 Charleston Road.
