HURRICANE CITY WORKERS: Testing and Being Tested

Pictured is a screen shot from a Facebook video of four City of Hurricane workers having fun.

On March 22nd, Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards posted a Facebook video of four city workers having a bit of fun testing the slipperiness of slide at City Park. Edwards asked viewers to submit appropriate captions and offered to reward the winning entry with a Hurricane umbrella.

Two days later, Edwards posted, “Had many more captions than I expected on the FREE HURRICANE UMBRELLA GIVEAWAY, so a group chose the top (10) and you can vote on the best one. In the comments, put the number of the caption you vote for.”

The top ten submissions were (1) “When mom says just one more minute at the park” (2) How many city workers does it take to test a slide? (3) Sliding into the weekend like “Help me up!!” (4) I ain’t as good as I once was, but I’m as good once as I ever was. (5) Here We Come Sliding Down This Slide We get the Funniest Looks From Everyone We Meet Hey Hey We the MONKEYS (6) City of Hurricane safety training video on how to “ not “ ride the slide (7) Don’t worry, be happy (8)World’s slowest Bob Sled team (9) Take me home country slides and (10) Slowest to stand back up loses.

Edwards’ post received more than two hundred comments. Selection (2) “How many city workers does it take to test a slide?” by Brenda Hill was the winner.

After completing their slide, the city workers removed the slide for polishing. The slide will be back in place for summer fun. Edwards stated that the slide was first installed in the 1970’s.
